I drive a Toyota Tacoma. neither Ford nor Chevy have an offering in the small truck catagory worth a plugged nickle.

if i were to buy a full size, it would be GMC (which is basically a chevy with extra city guy stuff.)

In 1988 my Dad bought his first new truck. It was a 1988 GMC Ext cab Long wheel base with a 350 engine. That truck died this year 1.3 million miles. original motor with 2 rebuilds and second tranny with 3 rebuilds. He currently drives a 2002 GMC 3/4 ton 2500HD Ext cab long wheel base. It had 14 miles on it when he bought it and it is still running strong at 285,000 miles. No rebuild on tranny or motor.
I drive an '01 Chevy 1500HD with 150000 miles. Good strong truck. All total in our company stable we have the 2002 GMC, 2001 Chevy, 1994 Chevy, 1989 Chevy. All original motors and trannies. Total miles on all combined, 1,050,000.
Within the month the old 1988 will be back in service after it's 3rd rebuild. IMHO go with anything with a GM logo on it. And get the 6.0 motor. Very bad to the bone engine.
