In keeping with common sense, it would depend upon the crime.
If he was willing to pay the taxes he owes, your suggestion makes so much more sense than wasting money on... stupidity.
I thought Snipes refused to pay.

Exactly, congressmen should be lead by example.

Re: Rangel "Censured"
"The House voted 333-79 to censure Rangel for failing to pay all his taxes, filing misleading financial statements, improperly seeking money from corporate interests for a college center bearing his name and setting up a campaign office in a subsidized, New York apartment designated for residential use."
Sure sounds like someone honest and trustworthy??

How much did he and the IRS predetermine that he owed?
How much was spent for this stupidity?

The stupidity label would have to go to Rangel himself. He helped write tax laws for crying out loud. He is (not for much longer, PTL), the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.
Good grief, so becaue he's a democrat he shouldn't have to face any ethics charges?
You might be interested to learn he filed an ethics charge on himself, so where's the digging you're so concerned about?

If only Rangel was treated to such hypocrisy and a witch hunt like Delay, Americans wouldn't have to put up with having such a dishonest man still in congress.

Re: Rangel "Censured"
Folks are just bias whether by political party, financial status, race etc....I say if the are corrupt then they should be dealt with regardless of party, money or race.

I agree with you.
Where we differ is probably in how they should be dealt with-- that is people in general.

Oh he is definitely NOT without blame. He did break the law.
The pursuit of him definitely has political underpinnings though.
My point is that the money probably spent investigating this "criminal" for the last two years is not worth it.
