Re: What Could Go Wrong in the U.S.
It is respectfully noted that people in Scandinavian countries live longer aka have longer lifespans. Ditto England and every other country with a (so-called terrible) public healthcare system. Ditto Canada. So, with this in mind, what's your point?
Have you been there or tried out or observed a public system?
How 'bout access to medication? Didja know I can hop down to the pharmacy down the street and buy anything I want or need w/o a prescription for less than my copay used to be?
Canadians and scandinavians dont have to go to the doctor. They can just go buy their medications. Cuts down (significantly) on the healthcare system load. Whatever they are doing wrong - they also live longer. So. Where does your fear come from?

Denying the elderly selected medicines and medical procedures, because they are too expensive, as already practiced by some insurance companies and embedded in the new health care bill. Then, as already practiced in several Scandinavian countries, the elderly will not go to see a doctor and refuse to enter a hospital, because they most likely will not walk out again (they receive injections that terminate their 'illness'). All of these kinds of things have been in the news for several years in the European press, not so much in the US press. Oops, so sorry!
BTW, England is ditching much of its social medical system because it hasn't worked and they can no longer afford it. Quite a bit of what they are ditching? You guessed it! It is a lot of the same stuff that we have just been saddled with in the Obamacare bill. (Reference: The Telegraph [telegraph.co.uk])

Re: What Could Go Wrong in the U.S.
Come to Brazil and wait in the long lines or wait for months to see a doctor...better know someone that knows someone if you need help....
I DO not wish the horrors that I have seen and experienced on anyone...does Brazil have good hospitals? yes in many areas...but try to get in one....

Re: What Could Go Wrong in the U.S.
HM Brazil should copy Chile or Cuba or Costa Rica and they can outlive Americans too.
At any rate I was thinking it is probably best to compare apples to apples and stick to places where you can drink the water - Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Norway all (well) exceed the US (average lifespan) so I was idly wondering what the terrible issue is with the (evil) Scandinavian countries. LOL

Re: What Could Go Wrong in the U.S.
It isn't about drinking water or even life spans. It's about the government taking over health care and at some point running out of other people's money.

As opposed to insurance companies?
Not about lifespan? Why else in the world would you care about your health?

Re: What Could Go Wrong in the U.S.
ask the Voice of Martyrs about Cuba...
oh, yes my sister in law lives in Santiago Chile....imagine if the capital is like that what about the poor little villages...
you know nothing about standing in long lines or paying people to stand in the line for youl...I speak from a lifetime of experience...in a third world country...no we do not want America to become a socialist country...my grandson had heart operations in both countries...maybe you you visit the hospital where my mother died...so dirty and cruel...I cleaned the walls of her room with pinesoil and her filthly bedframe with cleaning products...I PAID THE GUARDS to let me in to take care of her...I could tell you a whole lot....about Marx....
