I don't think, I know there are varying schools of thought concerning Acts 2:38 and how the command relates to justification and salvation.

And you think that this is EVER preached or accepted publicly in any UPC setting?

That would be the surest, quickest way to appear before the District Board in ANY district. Dan Segraves has to write all his stuff in code. The day he comes out and says, "One-step", he's finished. He knows it and so should we all.

No, I don't think Dan sees "steps" as you want to package it. And yes he has addressed it in public forum.

He has never publicly said that one can be justified or saved or ready to go to heaven without speaking in tongues. You know that's the holy grail of the UPC.

When I left the UPC, I was bombarded by well-meaning people calling to make sure I didn't let go of the tongues-heaven doctrine.

Thanks for the inquiry. Many times I have written posts, only to not hit that submit reply button. A few reasons are: not enough time to stay on top of the thread; not sure it would make any difference; and just a basic belief that there is not enough civility in many of these discussions. I would say that in the past there was more of a friendly tone, even though people were on different sides of the fence on issues. I miss a lot of the old posters, I always enjoyed Timlan, because even though I usually disagreed with him, he would make me think. Coonskinner was another one, he didn't know that I knew him, he is a great guy, and even though he was a con he "usually" stayed fairly civil. Epley isn't really the way he comes across and was great friends with Atlanta Bishop in real life.
I do not like the new style of trash-talk posting. I rarely trash talked when I played sports, (yes I am a con who played sports, but didn't let my two oldest play), and I believe that if I am a Christian I should watch the words that proceed from my lips, or fingers.
Man, it's a really long post for me.

Re: Forum Poll, Please Vote

I believe Acts 2:38 tells the full plan of salvation. Beards are not a sin neither is Woman trimming their hair. Yeshua is both the Father and Son. The standard for every Christian is "be ye perfect even as the Father is perfect". No real interest in the UPC other than they would walk in the light.

Thanks for the thoughts. For what it's worth, even though you and I are probably completely opposite in every theological way, I'd like to see you post more.
