I'm the premiere member of the Russ Taff fan club. Well, I could be anyway.
I've met him in person, owned all of his albums, own many of the cds..... I read his wife's blog all the time, and I'm her friend on facebook, so I feel like a stalker.
She is FUNNY, though!
His story is really interesting. His dad was a Pentecostal preacher, but struggled with a drinking problem. He and Russ had serious relationship problems, and Russ struggled with all of that for years. One of Russ's albums (I've forgotten the name of it) was done after his dad died, and the album is downright painful to listen to in parts. One of the songs "This Long, Hard Road" is really poignant, talking about how when they get to heaven "we'll dance, and then we will end this long, hard road". He says that they will finally understand each other, and be able to clearly see their love for each other once they're over there.
Anyway, it's interesting. I wish he'd write a book about it all. He's done a few articles about it.
