Wow, can I invite you to a huge luncheon sometime? I would like to introduce you to some men and women that have left the "Holiness Standards" made by men and now have a passion for Christ that they NEVER had when they were pharisees.

I still pinch myself sometimes, in disbelief that I feel so close to God now that I have a different relationship with Him. I can hardly believe that I judged so many people that dressed differently than me as not living for God. My focus is so much more heavenward, instead of looking side to side and in the mirror to see that I and everyone around me were on course.

It's like this... When you are driving down the road, if you pay attention to the white line you will not drive in the middle of the lane. If you look ahead, you will drive down the middle. If you start looking at things on the right, you will start heading toward the right.

If you are passionate for Christ, He is what you are thinking about and telling others about, then you will keep heading toward Christ. If you start paying attention to even good things, like the white line that tells you where you should drive, you will NOT be heading toward Christ.

You may look toward "standards" and get off course or you may look toward carnal things and get off course, but either way you will be off course if something besides Jesus himself is your focus.

Where I attend church now, Jesus is the focus. We get soooooooooo excited about Jesus and how much he loves us, that we can't help but share that love with each other and others not in our church. Our focus isn't ourselves or some external rules. Our focus is Jesus.

Whoa! I "left holiness standards" (as you call them) because they were not Biblical and the "holiness police" had asked me to help cover up a more prominent preacher's adultery.

**** For those who criticize me because I "keep bringing this up" I just want to point out (again!) that it needs to be brought up; again and again.

The dress code does NOT make anyone holy! Not one soul. The dress code will not prevent "lust" and sin. The instances of infidelity in marriage within the "holiness" churches mirrors the larger society as a whole. The same can be said for the statistics for divorce and teen pregnancy.

The dress code can't even be demonstrated to accomplish real holiness in conduct. It's a sham.

Soooo...showing your kneecaps is an indication of being on the edge of the spiritual mountain?

Good grief...I feel sorry for you when you can go to the store and there is a UPCer who, for all we know is thinking about how wonderful Jesus has been to them and then there is you...mulling over their spiritual condition because they dare to show some knee caps???

I've seen people who kept standards, to the T...and they were full of gossip, the evil eye, slander, lying and a bunch of other things....

I've seen or knew of people that did the standards the whole 9 yards and all that were committing fornication and or adultery.

I know people that look down their snooty arrogant noses at other churches that they claim "compromised", all the while they aer watching TV on the internet.

Yet not a one of you will dare enter into a scriptural discussion on the topic. You will claim it's because we have rejected the scriptures...or some lame excuse, yet if that was really the case why even bother coming here and pontificating to anyone at all?
