I used to be on a forum that had manly old time Westlyan folks on it, and got into an email debate with one man who was a member of a Friends group. I would get this man so mad, and then would say, "be careful now that you don't loose your sanctification". hahaha!!!!

I understand your viewpoint and there are other verses that agree with that interpretation....Paul had the sentence of death in himself..He had a mindset or attitude that He was ready not only to be in bonds but to die for the name of Jesus Christ. But there are verses in which Paul also teaches He himself dies to his own fleshly desires...I keep under my body and bring it into subjection, they that are Christ have crucified the flesh...so I can agree with your point contextually but "I die daily" can be used as death to self and the flesh also in a figurative sense albeit out of context.

I forget her name but she had several congregations in Tn. & Ky. called Emmanuel Church of Christ (Oneness Pentecostal). But I remember being in a service where she was and the preacher hit her bobbed hair I don't think she was quite dead or at least it looked as though the old man or woman came alive. She was not happy. But we was!

Finally!!!
Someone quoting this text in its context.
I've heard and seen the "I die daily" quoted so many times through the years and it's always quoted as though Paul was mortifying/killing his flesh every day and not putting his life on the line for the message.

The old man is as dead as your faith says it is.

11: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom. 6:11

Dying daily to our self is a basic principal of a disciple of Yeshua.

23: And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23

Sinless perfection is no dream. It is just the reality of living without sin one day at a time by faith.
