That's what I'm trying to say though, those things that the pastor is doing instead of shouting are probably the more important. Maybe the laypeople should take his example and go around praying for each other more than they themselves shout?

As far as thinking a pastor should shout more. That wasn't the point. The point was that if the pastor doesn't shout much then maybe the laypeople should do what he is doing in place of shouting more.

Once again, I can only speak from experience, but this is exactly what our church stresses. During times of prayer, everyone is praying together, for and with each other. Not laying hands on their head, but putting an arm around someone who needs encouragement, praying with them.

Our pastor stresses that you shouldn't put so much focus on "getting a blessing", but instead "being a blessing".

Yea, it sounds like you have a wonderful church

We don't have too many rogues, either. Usually everyone's unified.

Occasionally, you'll have someone act funny because maybe that's their experience or how they saw things done when they were young, or maybe they're a new convert overwhelmed by the presence of God. Some people really don't know how to react when they feel God for the first time. One of my friends was telling me the other day about a woman who came to one of our church dramas years ago. About halfway through, she got up and ran out of the church. My friend followed her out, and she was out on the porch, shaking like a leaf and smoking a cigarette--completely shaken up by what she had felt. (She expressed as much--it wasn't just my friend's assumption.)

Maturity changes the way you react, in most cases. I've seen more crazy antics from the charismatic realm than I ever did in conservative Apostolic churches. Granted, I've seen crazy stuff in the latter as well, but not as widespread. Of course, I don't consider lifting hands, dancing, jumping, running and shouting to be "crazy." I consider someone to be a little "crazy" when it's obvious they're not in control. Some people even seem to "try" to be out of control, which is hard to explain, but I bet you know what I'm talking about. Some of the weirdest things I've seen involved trying to cast out a demon. Exorcism is a RCC concept--not a biblical concept. Jesus never wrestled with a demon-possessed person. He just commanded the devils to go, and they went. The disciples couldn't do it because apparently they hadn't prayed and fasted enough.

Now I'm getting off on a tangent, and I have English to teach, so I'll be back later!

I know what you mean. Some people think that the wilder they get, the more power of God they are feeling. I've seen holes kicked in doors, people jumping into the baptistery, heard of one church that blew a loud bullhorn frequently during worship (weird!). Heard of people running outside and jumping up and down on the hoods of their cars, going so ballistic that people around them got black eyes and busted lips..... yes, that's out there. That's the type of thing that needs to submit to the "decently and in order" mandate.

Yes, I've seen some very odd things when someone was trying to "cast out a demon". Very odd. The devil ended up getting a lot more glory than God did.

Wink Re: How do pastor's worship?

I totally agree with you Jfrog. If anything drives me nuts........It was when a evangelist
would come in and and try to make people Hoop and Holler!!!!

Say junk like.........If ya aint going to worship......I might as well go home!!

I say ,what you waiting on? There is the door!! See you!! Wouldn't want to be you!!

Let me say it like this. Me and my wife both were raised in well balanced UPC
churches.

Early in my ministry, even before I started evangelizing. I would say stupid stuff
like...What is this? A graveyard! Ya sitting there like a bump on a log!!

And don't nobody say I am not telling the truth.............You have heard it to.

One night when I got finished preaching, my wife said...........thats enough!!!!

She said, Stop waiting on a response from the crowd!!! Just minister to the people
with what God has given you.

She said, I'm sitting in the crowd with all these people while you low rate us about
why we are not jumping up and down!!!

Thats all it took folks. I tried to explain that it's the way its allways been in the UPC.

From that moment forward I never begged people to Hoop and Holler. Just lets worship
him.

When I finally realized that it's not about how many people I can get on thier feet, but
how many on thier knees.

So why don't we worship him for a moment.

Re: How do pastor's worship?

I have arrived. Now we can have the final, correct answer. How do pastors worship? The answer: lots of different ways.

You're welcome.

Am I just not remembering correctly or do apostolic pastors worship differently than the people who they pastor?

This is a GREAT question you have asked. In my days of pentecostalism, this was always something that bugged the fire out of me.
