It's not so much overpopulation but the criminals and terrorist elements that I worry about.

I know our society is now always fearful or terrorism, but think for a moment, how many terrorists have come through Mexico?
That's not where the problem has been.
It's easier for someone from Europe/Asia, or the Middle East to get a visa than it is someone from Latin AMerica and that's a fact.
We don't have a bunch of illegal muslims running around the USA, because the U.S. doesn't have an issue giving them visas.

How does flying a Mexican flag, differ than someone in Chicago or New York flying an Italian flag...or a southern who flys a Confederate flag?

Are you only in favor of illegal immigrants from Mexico, or do you also support illegals from Iran, the Sudan, and Saudi Arabia?

I work with the Latin American community on a daily basis and am myself Latin American.
My Father came becuase he wanted a better life and knew that the USA could provide it. He came over when there was an amnestiy and has always been legal, but how do you deny someone a better life because you feel like you own the country?
That sounds harsh but that is the attitude portrayed by you.
Your ancestors were able to come over and get a better life in America, why can't someone else do the same?
I will tell you this, IF Congress makes the immigration reform it is talking about, you will see MILLIONS of Latinos fix their papers and become legal.
They don't want to be here illegaly, in fact their life as an illegal is a lot harder than you know it.
They didn't want to cross the border illegaly but it was the only way for the them to come to this country

I hope you can still say that in a few years. The fact that you know this would make us naive to think Muslim Terrorists don't also know the same thing and plan to utilize it.
I am anti-illegal immigration in all cases. If we can't control our borders we have no real security in the US.
If we need to loosen the legal channels - then so be it - but stopping what is illegal and criminal is a different issue really.

Latin America is much bigger than just mexico.
I am IN FAVOR of immigration, period. Doesn't matter the country.
Since 9/11 people are making a big deal about the mexican border and how a terrorist could cross over. My point is, they don't have to cross the border illegaly because the US lets middle easterners in a lot easier than they would someone from Latin America.

It's not that I encourage illegal immigration, I understand why they're coming over...it's not about taking advantage or mooching off of the USA, it's about a better life for themselves and their family... but the legal channels have to be loosened. If the laws are changed, you will see a dramatic decrease in illegal immigration.

i understand i really do. i honor and admire the work ethic of the hispanic community and their family values. I am one that has no problem with it CP. as i asked though, what do we do when our basic systems become depleted? raise our taxes? they are already off the charts here.
my grandparents imigrated and settled in chicago but they didnt have welfare and medicare etc then. you just had to do it on your own.

i wonder why that is when it's a proven fact that they have done almost all the terrorist attacks in the world.

Sorry but this is apples and oranges really. When we can run a FBI and Homeland Security background check on someone it is always better.
I am pro immigration too. It is vital for much of our economy to compete. However, what illegal immigrants want is of no consequence really. We are a nation of laws, not wishes. The vast majority of the third world would wish to live here.
