I, personally, think that there should be some health care reform especially for the lower classes who cannot afford healthcare and work minimum wage jobs but I'm not sure I want the socialist type health care of the UK or Canada.

Then I give you credit for posting this! And I agree that we need some reform but those who can make reform happen, (the average American citizen) are being destroyed with this. God help America!
Although it wasn't written to us, I think it was written for us. ...... “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14, KJV.

The American way of life, absent the God-fearing morals of the pilgrims and founders, and absent the Puritan work ethic, has become based on materialism, lust, idolatry, hedonism, and greed. 80% of Americans self-identify as "Christians." 4% of Americans are capable of demonstrating basic Bible literacy.
If we think God is still inspired to bless America and all we Americans do, we're only fooling ourselves.
When Americans await their daily bread in Soviet-style bread lines, they might become ready to turn their hearts back toward God.

Overall I agree with the post, but I would disagree with the first couple of items. There is no conspiracy to dumb down our food supply or medical treatments. The food supply DOES suffer from the ever increasing need for larger yields and longer storage times during transportation but there are no secret societies saying "Ok, lets slowly starve the worlds population through less and less nutritional food stuff! Mawwww hawww hawwww!".
Also, I am not sure what he practices medically, but most doctors I know take the Hippocratic oath pretty seriously and are keen on treating the the cause as well as the symptoms. Now I DO think there is a vast over prescription of pain pills, which has led to huge levels of addiction, but I don't think most doctors are interesting in only treating symptoms.

All who like the concept of nationalized health care would be wise to review the official CBO estimates for MediCare, and compare them to the actual costs.
America's bond-holders and creditors have already done so, and have found our Ponzi scheme wanting. America's bond rating will crumble, and its rate of deterioration will be accelerated by the enactment of nationalized health care. There is nobody left to pay for this party but the taxpayer.
People can believe what they choose about how abortion will be handled. A good way of THINKING about it is to look at the nature of the individuals calling the shots: The most pro-death president in history, and the most pro-death (and Catholic!) house speaker in history. It doesn't matter one bit what they are SAYING now, thinking people will watch what they actually DO. Based on the individual records of support of our current leadership, they will find a way to ratchet up this grisly trade.
So, all of you apostolics, does a person of good moral conscience support the practice of abortion with their Federal taxes?

Why thank you for showing interest in this thread, much appreciated. Now, I know that I am not the only one paying attention to what Congress is doing.
Having said that let's get one thing straight Carl. #1) Check your tone, your way off base with your snide remark; #2) Insults are not necessary, this is an intellectual conversation; #3) Don't attempt to challenge my character and my morals.
If you would like to contribute to the conversation then please do so. Apparently you do, because you posted quite a lengthy response. Furthermore, anyone that has been through school, which I'm quite sure everyone on this forum has understands referencing sources of information. Now, having said that posting an official statement as you so poignantly stated is not regurgitation. In addition you point out that Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the House) is Catholic, yet, you direct your question on abortion towards Apostolics only. Apostolics are not the only faith on this forum, there are Trinitarians, and I've even talked to some that are Catholic. Your question insinuates that only Apostolics can answer a question regarding morality and abortion.
In posting all of what you have where is your source (or link) to what you have suggested forum users read; namely the CBO estimates on Medicare.

Thanks for catching that typo. I guess that was bound to happen with typing that looking at the t.v., the internet, and talking politics with my hubby.

Starting to find out a little more as we go along.

Little-Known Health Care Law Provision Is a Budget Buster, Critics Say
March 26, 2010
While Congress spent the last year debating how to provide health insurance for the uninsured, a little-known provision slipped into the heath care law that could cost some Americans upwards of $2,000 a year.
The Congressional Budget Office expects the government will collect $109 billion in premiums by 2019.
Nunes says Republicans were blindsided by the provision because they were unable to see the final bill until the very end.
Scheduled to go into effect in January, actual deductions could take place in 2012.
Here's how the program will work:
-- The federal government will approach employers next year about alerting workers to the proposed deduction.
-- The deduction will work on a sliding scale based on age. Younger workers will be charged less, older workers more. The Congressional Budget Office pegged the average monthly deduction at $146. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services put it higher, at $240.
-- After a five-year vesting period, enrollees who need help bathing, eating or dressing will be eligible to take out benefits, estimated to be around $75 a day for in-home care.
