Having listened to a good bit of it, I remember why I and a surprising number of my conservative friends voted for him. This what we heard on the campaign trail and were attracted to. Clear, clean, concise points and plans. A different way of doing politics. He has gotten a little sidetracked during his first year in office, but I hope and pray he becomes the president America voted for.
Twisp, what were the crisp, clean and concise points BO was making during the election?
One of the hits he took from his opponents was that he campaigned on "hope"...without the details. But that didn't matter. Folks were more interested in the cult of personality: young, good looking, articulate, great camera and stage presence. Too many Americans couldn't vote for an older, stiff from torture, scarred and handicapped war hero, because he's not attractive.
I contend that a vast number of people voted for Obama because of how he made them feel, versus what we knew about him. The extreme liberal views of his associates, statements from his past, even reading between the lines of his campaign promises were obvious what he would do.
There were no surprises to me in 2009. Appointees who did pay taxes, radical czars who made audacious statements while representing the office of POTUS, increased spending that made all previous presidencies appear miniscule by comparison, an overreaching healthcare bill, no bipartisanship, no transparency, many broken campaign promises, and a worsening economy and unemployment rate.
I didn't vote for him in spite of his stage presence amd his nice smile. I apply the same principle to used car salesmen: I LISTEN TO THE SUBSTANCE and I CHECK THEIR TRACK RECORD.
Try that in November this year and I think your vote will reflect your views better (if you are a conservative). You won't end up with an empty suit.

I have to agree with you completely. People are swayed by emotions today. They don't think rationally.

There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
No, it's not. Republican's are trying their best to stay relevant, and they know outlandish claims like that will get them headlines. Much like this session, talking points won't get you far.
The fact is that Obama was/is a relatively young candidate that resonated with the majority of the younger crowd. He made a lot of campaign promises and seemed to understand us a lot more than McCain. That crowd responded by voting in record numbers.
He might not have lived up to all of his promises thus far, but we'll continue to let him try. Honestly, barring a major incident, we'll probably let him try to for another term as well. We are tired of the way politicians work, and he gives us the best chance for that to change.
This Q & A session displayed him getting back to that, hopefully, and is very exciting.
Every candidate makes promises they hope the majority of voters will like and vote for that person but few keep those promises.
Obama has not brought change. He is a politician like the rest of them, just further left of any other in recent years

I find it really hard to believe that any conservative voted for Barak Obama unless they were simply doing so as a stragy to toss the Democrat Lite Republicans out of office.
Barak Obama is a HARD LEFT person and will likely continue to be hard left.
One's ability to convince themselves they are a conservative is no indication that they are in fact a concervative.

Ferd, did you see that Bill Ayers complained the economy is still bad and we are still at war in the Middle East? Even Bill Ayers is unhappy with BO!
November is looking scary for the Dems...
