Re: Quiet General Conference?

I kind of got the impression that the wedeclare thing and the UPC were hand in hand?

I could care less really, but if they want revival at GC, they will stop all the damage control, propaganda, and fist pumping at how strong the organization is (even though it is smaller), how they are marching forward holding the banner high carrying on the standard, the Apostiles doctrine... (which really is pumping up human effort and glory), and just get to the business of the Lord Jesus, and have a time of deep penetrating intercession and reflection into their own lives. Otherwise, GC will just be another political rally with an insufferable long offering session.

Re: Quiet General Conference?

just wondering, how much time (proportionately) is spent at GC for
worship?
prayer?
talent showcasing?
receiving offerings?
cheer leading?
business?
expounding the Word?
politics?

I'm not UPC and have only been to one GC service.
That was in Indianapolis and would have been late nineteen fifties, maybe 1960 or 61

Re: Quiet General Conference?

I went to one in the 90s. It was pretty good. The advertising and showcasing were kept on the side. I wished there had been more services... expect everyone that went to the business meetings did too!

Won't be going this year, though I know some who are.

Haven't heard any big controversies.
