Does it confuse kids when you let them watch it at hotels or family members house?
Yes to both questions.

How can you make a blanket statement like that when the question doesn't say why there is no tv in the home - doesn't state the reason for not having one.

If, for example there simply wasn't enough money in the budget to be able to afford the expense, then how and why would it be hypocritical to watch one at your friend's house or at your parent's house or at the doctor's office?

Given that this is AFF and that many of the posters here adhere to the UPC prohibition against watching television, I responded based on the larger context.

Is assuming different than insinuating?

Okay, well we've already hammered that out. If a man preaches that watching television is a sin, it becomes an issue if he's watching it.

But if there are stipulations attached like in regard to what KIND of programming you watch, or if you're making the reasons clear why you choose to not have one in your home or the reasons why you can't have one in your home, then it doesn't necessarily mean watching TV elsewhere is hypocritical.

We didn't have one for good reason, but our reasons wouldn't prohibit us from watching some programming elsewhere if it was available and doing so wouldn't make us hypocritical.

Bingo. Because of the qualifiers, this poll may be misleading. I could vote either way if I did not first read the thread.

so you responded based on your interpretation of the larger context involving persons who are not you.

Why not just answer as to how YOU believe?

Even so, if they're at a hotel and have time to waste, there isn't anything 'wrong' with watching TV. Personally, having a TV would be unnecessary expense. I don't have much time on my hands as it is.

I think it would confuse children the most if it was labelled as a sin or wrong - if it's just a preference - like Felicity said, I think they'll be fine.
Good post Rachel. You understand. You grew up in a pastor's home and you were well taught.
