It's just crazy to me, though, how we are wired in political discussions. Many of those who consider themselves Republican will probably feel almost compelled to defend her. I can imagine that FoxNews would not be putting the 2012 election out there as a legit reason if a prominent Dem had suddenly quit in 2009. ..she didn't even try to use that to justify or explain it.

(of course it works both ways though, with both parties)

Of course FOX is would defend her. What it could be - FOX is taking her out of the running - to make room for REAL viable candidates, like Romney or a few others. And having her out of the way but still OUT THERE mixing it up with the base, she will be campaigning (in her own wonderful way) pulling in money for the GOP.

I think its a good move. 'Keep' her out there but on a very short leash. It seems that shes tasted the high life and there is no way she will walk away from the lower 48 and stay tucked up there in Alaska. She has become bigger than Alaska. Alaska cant contain Sarah.

What I dont get is her stating that - the world needs more down syndrome babies. What???

Sarah Palin didn't receive any worse treatment than everyone who runs for President and VP in this country.

Now, I'd agree she apparently hasn't handled it well and that's too bad, but let's not throw a poor Sarah party here.
Nonsense, the Demos threw everything including the kitchen sink at her. Bill Clinton was a womanizer that made it very easy to expose. Sarah Palin is a decent human being that has been demonized by completely corrupt win at any cost politicians.

It was stupid of John McCain to pick her with so little time for her to prepare, and she was definitely not prepared.

I saw GWB change from a weak speaking governor to be able to win to terms, but it took months and months of prep.

So, I believe that was the main problem she was just not vetted and prepared for the national stage.

Although I dont understand her not waiting until 2010. Because if she has quit her obligations to Alaska so that she can concentrate on the 2012 presidential election....stick a fork in her because she's done.
She may be going to run, but I doubt it. It is sad that decent people have not a chance against the corrupt state of politics and media.

She has recently had a lot of corruption type complaints and scandals brewing as well. I'm sure that much of that could be simple politics, but I think we also need to remember that Alaskan politics is as notoriously dirty as (dare I say it?) ...Chicago's.

A surprising resignation at this point is a bad sign in my opinion. It appears that it caught many in Alaska's highest levels of government by surprise.

We can definitely agree on those two statements. I think he's to blame for picking a totally unprepared VP candidate. She was thrust into a very bad situation and her ineptness made her a rightful recipient of criticism.

Re: Sarah Palin announces she will resign

I think there is another story, too. I think Palin got a raw deal during the election and the media has been pretty rough on her since the election. But- there is either a scandal, marriage trouble, or some other story behind this announcement.

Whoah, I missed that last part. I can't believe she said it either, but she did seem a bit rattled throughout the speech. I guess we'll just see how it all plays out.

She could have handled the office, character and the desire to do the right thing she has, handling the wickedness in politics and the media, she was not prepared for.

That is what is sad, it is not enough to have character and the desire to make right choices, you have to be brutal to win in current politics.
