Re: What are you?
BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER
by Maya Angelou
'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!
Pretty is as Pretty does... but beautiful is just plain beautiful!

I'm not fearful. If someone asks what religion I am, I'll say Pentecostal. That doesn't embarrass me at all. But if you ask what I am, I am a Christian.

I attend a weekly prayer meeting in an historic Presbyterian Church across from the Court House in Hamilton, OH. That group has been meeting for over 40 years and I don't know how many of those years have been in that building. It is a diverse group from several churches. God's presence is manifested there on a regular basis in what some would call "Pentecostal" or "Charismatic" ways. When the current pastor came to that church, he heard about the prayer meeting. Some times he comes for prayer, for himself personally, for his brother who is fighting cancer, and for direction and provision for the church and its programs. I remember him saying once that when he first heard about the prayer meeting going on in the church fellowship room he didn't know what to expect. He said, "I thought you might pray over me in tongues and hand me a snake." Well, he's certainly had hands laid on him and has been prayed over in tongues and has been prophesied to, but so far, nobody has handed him a snake. As far as I know, Pastor John has never received his personal "prayer language" but some of his members have. One elderly Presbyterian minister, who served at that church in a "helps" position, died about a year ago. He told me that when he received the baptism in the Spirit he couldn't even speak English for several hours.

Re: What are you?
I am a believer in the Lord Jesus, that He is the messiah. I am a believer in the gifts that were poured out on the day of Pentecost, and that they are for today also. That was part of the salvation then and it is now.I do believe they danced, and shouted, maybe not run the aisles. The word "rejoice" means to dance in a circle. There is no harm in running the aisles. Once I danced for the devil. Once I shouted at ball games and made a fool of myself in many ways, whether drunk or otherwise. Now, I shout for Jesus. Now I dance unto Him because He is worthy. I am not ashamed of worship. I see so many people in the world who will do embarrassing things but they refuse to get lost in the Holy Ghost. If you have never experienced it please don't mock it. When I dance in worship, the Lord is trampling my enemies under my feet. When I shout, its because I have come through a sore trial and my God has given me the victory. When I run the aisles, I am filled with so much joy that it cannot be contained. Don't forget King David debased himself in worship unto God. He loved the Lord so much he didn't care what he looked like. Michal mocked him, and God shut up her womb. If you won a huge amount of money, tell me, how would you react? Ive seen what people do. When you were married, did you celebrate? How about dancing? shouting? Or was your wedding all dignified, solemn, polite, quiet? If you go to the book of psalms you will find many scriptures that talk about tambourines, drums, clapping the hands etc. Furthermore, do you really, even if there were no scriptures, think that God would ever reject a humble , heartfelt worship that is demonstrative? There is only one thing that causes people to withhold and that is our ugly enemy of pride. I call myself Pentecostal. Aside from issues, there is not another group of believers, and Ive been in many churches, where the worship brings the presence of God like I have found in Apostolic Pentecostals. Maybe it is because God enjoys hearing His children celebrating , and shouting the victory. Maybe He is shouting with us. Go, children, go. I"m shouting with you, I'm jumping with you. He is our Father and He is for us, with us , and in us. I have been in singles conferences where we have danced and shouted and ran for 2 hours. By the way, I,m 61 years old and Ive been doing this for 17 years. What about you "young'uns"

Re: What are you?
Try Strong's concordance. Hebrew 1523. root to spin around under the influence of any violent emotion , i.e usually {rejoice} be glad, joy, be joyful.
