Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, bullet for bullet. Is this what you sincerely believe, Sister Alvear?

NO, that is not what I believe...but I do believe we should take precautions...I know what it is to have my son Kidnapped, be locked in our room by robbers and face many dangers...

Re: Baptist Pastor Shot In Pulpit Today

I do not own a gun and never will. I have a family. Some would think that I am a terrible father for not having a gun. I believe that if someone wants to kill me, who am I to stop them? A sheep does not pack a gun. A sheep does not kill. Only wolves kill sheep. If you claim to be a sheep and kill with a gun, for any reason, then you really need to take a step back and examine what you really are, if you claim to be a Christian, a sheep, and a child of a loving, forgiving God, who expects the same from his elect.

So, Sister Alvear, if you were able to take the shot and kill those kidnappers in order to save your son, would you?

We so quickly forget the cost of following Christ. First century Christians would say that this is nothing. And they never used violent defense.

We DON'T need more guns. We need more repentance, prayer, and fasting.

Agreed. And, I'm not trying to belittle a man's tragic death. It is tragic. I lost my father when I was only 12. Heart attack in the living room, his arms flailing every which way, as he sunk to the floor in the presence of us all, and died choking on his own spit, and never recovered. So, I'm no stranger to death right up close.

We live in a society so wrapped up in violence it just makes me sick. People flock to movies with explosions, sporting events with men ramming into each other, while the crowd screams for more. What a complex world we live in, there really is no easy cut and dried answer. But, only love. That really is the only answer. Love your enemies.

I do not have a gun for killing...lol...I would shoot in the air to frighten away robbers...which is common in Brazil...NO, I would not kill...
In fact I told the story of Jesus and prayed with those that kidnapped our son...
