I am going to do it by computer in the comfort of my own home.

The "church building" tradition is, in my opinion, the most destructive of all traditions that should be scrapped! It gives people a false identity whereby they call a building "the house of God," instead of recognizing that they themselves are the house of God. It also promotes the temple/priesthood model of the old covenant and justifies classifying the ministry as the priesthood who do all the work in the temple, as opposed to the new covenant priesthood of all saints. My opinions.

Re: Traditions of Men

Sometimes it is hard to know which traditions are apostolic and which are merely human. So I guess that is why we must study and pray...read and read again...the Bible talks both good and bad about traditions...so we must weigh things to see what is good for our souls. Tradition is not always bad...

[2 Thess. 2:15] "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep aloof from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us." [2 Thess 3:6] "Now I praise you because you remember me in everything, and hold firmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you." [1Cor 11:2]

Jesus said in John 8:32, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Re: Traditions of Men

Jesus condemned the Pharisees for teaching traditions and commandments of men for doctrine of the Bible. "But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men". (Matt. 15:9)

So those 3 posts show us there are good and bad traditions.

Re: Traditions of Men

"Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, THAT TURN FROM THE TRUTH." Titus 1:13. So, when men teach that you must do or not do certain things, and they are not found in Scripture, then it will turn you from the truth.

Truth will always be truth...traditions are just that...traditions...

Re: Traditions of Men

Rules if they are good then they are generally for protection...stop signs, caution signs are for our protection.

Many times, I have seen that those people that make up commands of do's and don'ts, that have no Scriptural basis, will sooner or later begin to break the real commands that are in Scripture.

I was just talking to my son the other night about this same subject. Many a soul has been killed in the name of Christ...look through history and you will see how true that statement is...innocent blood fall from many men´s swords...NOT the blood of the enemy the blood of innocents...

Re: Traditions of Men

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the TRADITION of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ". (Col.2:8). "Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using after the COMMANDMENTS AND DOCTRINES OF MEN? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body;" (Col 2:20-23).

Re: Traditions of Men

"Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy". Luke 12:1

Belief in the tradition of the elders was the fundamental peculiarity of the Pharisaic system. They held that these traditions, or oral expositions of and additions to the law, were revealed to Moses along with the law, and were communicated by him orally to the elders of the people, by whose successors they had been handed down through each successive generation. They regarded these traditions as equal in authority with the written word.

Study the Talmud...study Jewish traditions...study Mt 15:1-20, Mr 7:1-23, and John 7:1

There are dangers of Tradition as we can see in Mt. so my comment would be balance and good sense.
