Sweet, nice card. Just recently bought a 4850 myself. Pretty heavy OC and never gets above 65c. Thought your teps were way high, but then notice the post was a year old. Don't recall what was the norm at that time .

Re: Ordered a VGA cooling fan

Ugh, ATI losers.

Randy now I want to know what was the deal with the heatsink? Are you saying you reseated your GPU? I've never heard of anyone doing that lol.

BTW I have 2 Nvideo 9800 GTs in SLI. I bought them because they were on sale and I was using 2 7800s in SLI. I just can't afford to buy something better so I wait a few years for the price to drop.

I'd like to eventually swap out my MB or maybe just upgrade to a quad with 3 SLI slots.

Im using one of the fastest, if not fastest x2 they came out with before the quads came out on an Nvidia based MB. I still only have 2 gigs of ram, but that is partly because I am too lasy to change the stock heatsink out, which blocks one of the dimm slots....bad design. I have the heatsink and all but I have just been lazy ha

Yes, you can add custom fans/heatsinks (liquid also) cooling modifications to Gfx cards.

I've never seen a heatsink/fan replacement for a card, I've seen fans that go into PCI slot. How low profile are the replacements?

I removed the heatsink/fan combo on my old ATI card and replaced it with a Zalman unit which is a HUGE copper heat sink and fan. It reduced the the temps by quite a bit. (I still don't over clock though since I really do not need to.)

The new 5850 has a pretty good cooling solution itself so there is no need to upgrade short of going to a water cooling system.

hmmm. What do you use to monitor the temp of the card?

The ATI Catalyst Control Center which is usually part of all ATI drivers tells you what the core temp and fan RPM's are at any given moment.

Do they make cooling fans for AFF threads? I've read some on here that needed to be cooled down!

Just wonderin'
