Ministers planning a revolt against mortgage forclosures?
We just refinanced - and I felt very thankful to be able to. We're saving a little over $300.00 a month now. I know others are not as fortunate.

You bring up some interesting consequences from the ailing economy. I believe 2009 will be the worst year since the depression. The market was down by almost 9% in the month of January. Usually, January sets the tone for the rest of the year.
Folks, it's going to be a rough ride for the next couple of years. You better start to cut expenses NOW!
Organizations that are already in bad shape financially, may not survive this crisis!

No, apparently, there is a group of ministers planning on pushing some very liberal issues.

Downturns or recessions are just typical parts of the business cycle. They are anticipated events and not surprises.
Technically, a fall of more than 10% is required for a recession to be considered a depression by most economists. Of course if you lose your job you just suffered a 100% downturn in your GDP and that's always a crisis.

But what does that have to do with the economy?

Re: >>>The Church in Financial Crisis<<<
Hmmm, maybe these other churches need to find their way back to God ?
Plagues and famine and drought all over Egypt yet Israel suffered none of it !!
Living in the land of Goshen !!
We just hired a bi-vocational youth pastor and uped our bi-vocational youth pastor to uni-vocational assistant pastor. Last month we bought all new screen software and computer system, new sound recording system, we are laying new floor in our gym/family center..... no problems here..

That is the point of this thread, Bro.
How will an organization, which has consistently been mired in debt, be able to survive this sort of economic depression?
- Giving dries up.
- Ideological issues continue to push men out, on the left and right.
- Departments already gutted.
- More and more men unable to afford membership dues.
I am truly concerned.

I agree. But most "recessions" don't last as long as it looks like this one is going to.

We are already polarized.
If we continue to push our own ideologies, to the exclusion of our brothers, we lose. We lose brothers, fellowship and cold hard cash.
Each splinter group that leaves takes dollars with them.
