Speaking of the HS you and I referred to...what I LOVE most about him is his prayer life. Whether he is here or at home, he stops whatever he's doing at the same time every day and goes to pray. When he was here visiting, my kids were in the room with him, and he just prayed right there with them in the bedroom. I'm sure that will make a very positive impact on them later, if not now. And it's not a showy sort of thing--he's just consistent and makes it top priority.
Yes, he is a man of prayer. We used to go to the church at 5:30 AM and pray during the weekdays. I was very young at the time, and hadn't learned to pray like he could, but I loved to go just to be around him.
If we are referencing the same man I do know him personally. Pastors a grewat church in Columbus, GA but keeps very much to himself.
While I was the editor of the District newsletter I would publish some of his writings. I pressed him to publish but thus far have not been successful. If I can find the old files I will post a couple of the articles.
My SIL comes out of the Columbus church. I got to visit there as a child.

Brother Raven, isn't Elder Dugas the one who wrote some books?
EA
Yes. Paul Dugas was the editor of the Apostolic Contender and several books. He was the step-son of Andrew Urshan and the father of Tim Dugas of St. Louis.
Many of the first people that come to my mind when I think of heroes are not preachers, but wonderful saints that I have had the privilege of knowing.
"Mary," one of my heroes, suffered with a debilitating case of MS. I watched as it took, first the use of her legs, and then began its insidious process in her arms and upper body. I learned to hate MS as I watched it steal the joy of life from this vibrant lady one inch at a time.
Mary was a faithful lady, a hard working unsung hero. She never preached a sermon or sang a solo, but her portrait hangs in my memory's hall of fame. I watched her care for a dying husband, faithful to the end, to the detriment of her own well being. She had to be lifted, carried, and wheeled into the hospital, but she was determined to be with him, and to care for him until the lingering end, and she did. She was a faithful wife.
After her husband's passing, she continued, by sheer grit, to live in the home that they had shared. She bought a van equipped with a lift, and found a couple who would pick her up for church, and she was there both Sunday services. She was a faithful saint and I will treasure her memory as long as I live.
