The last minister's prayer/benediction, the last little rhyming bit was highly UN-PC!!! LOL!!!!!
Obviously race is a factor, because the race which was once a slave in this country is now in the highest office. Many people see today as a momentous event for that reason alone, regardless of the politics or qualifications of the candidate. There's some validity to that sentiment, even though it's not the best way to evaluate a candidate for public office.
In looking at the big picture, past to present, I can see and appreciate the significance of an African-American being put into office. It doesn't really matter if he's only half African. I have at least 4 different cultures/races mixed into my blood, but I don't name them all off when asked--I usually just mention the French/Indian. It really doesn't matter that I'm only a little bit of each--I can lay claim to whichever part of my heritage I choose. Some days I'm Irish, and other days I like to have German food.
I do believe MANY people voted for President Obama just because of his race. However, that's still their right. They can vote for someone because the candidate likes to eat lobster, or because he/she wears blue everyday. It really doesn't matter--the majority of the country voted him in, and I still appreciate the American process, even when it's thrown off kilter by bad reasoning.
I fear some are going to be disappointed in their candidate, but I have hope that I could be wrong about that.

Re: It it done- President Barack Obama
I watched, and said to myself, he is my president.
I am republican, that will never change.
I did not care for the swearing in 'tactic' the chief justice used trying to make Obama stumble in his words, I thought that was unprofessional.
In doing so he didn't make a complete swearing in statement for Obama to follow.

Bro. Ron,
Do you think that was intentional? I found it very odd myself and wondered the same thing. But what would Justice Roberts have to gain by doing that? I think he made himself look more dumb than President Obama. JMO.

I too hope he becomes the "best". We have not gotten a clear voice on the most important issue of my time. That would be awesome - if he could use the presidency as a bully pulpit for the little babies he has advocated killing in the past.
I would become a die-hard fan!

Re: It it done- President Barack Obama
I read yesterday where around the world, his image is already fading as the superstar. The people in the Gaza strip who thought he would speak out for them as Muslims were shouting "Death to Obama" and burning his picture in the streets. He's just a man like any other, and soon everyone will realize it.

I think Roberts was trying to help Obama after Obama jumped the gun and started repeating the first line before he was finished giving it. I noticed the networks edited it very well so I played well in the news.
