Same here, our church has a buffer on phone and emails to the pastor, he said he tried it one time and just got tired of not only the hateful people sending him stuff but every org. in the county soliciting for donations and help .
And those of you who feel the opposite, I guess you all have NEVER used the answering machine to screen your calls for you even though you were at home ? Oh and of course, none of you have caller ID ,,

Yeah, I guess Septteen did not care to elaborate. I don't see how you could run any remotely significant ministry with the pastor talking to every kook, solicitor, and con man that called in. We get tons of calls and emails everyday. That in and of itself would become his fulltime job. We have a staff that is perfectly capable of handling the bulk of those calls, resolving most issues, and directing those things to pastor that need to be directed to him.

My pastor has no one screen his calls. He gives out his cell phone number on the church cards, and we run a fairly good sized assembly. There's just something about it... I don't know exactly, but, he's just my brother in Christ, if I need to talk with him I can give him a call, without going thru a secretary (or two) or being put on hold. I rarely call my pastor, but if I need to he's there for me or anyone else in the assembly.
Does anyone know why, no email address or phone numbers are posted to contact upci direct . Maybe i did not see it, can anybody help. They have a email form, which i filled out,but no direct contact info, no phone numbers. Are the email address and phone numbers secret. I filled the form email out, but no responces. If i want to send a direct email to rev Kenth hanney, is it possiable, or do you have to be a pastor to get through. please help.

Our pastor carries a seperate cell phone that the church pays for exclusively for the members to be able to contact him. He also has a dedicated land line with an unlisted number that is seperate from our phone system that we do not have access to (nor its voice mail). There is never an issue with the members contacting him. However, we do run a fairly good-sized and active church. We receive solicitation calls non stop. We operate a community-wide food bank. We have dozens of people court ordered for our substance abuse classes. In our community we are a very well known church. I even receive more outside calls than I can handle at times. Just 20 minutes ago I had to talk to a lady from the community who came in wanting us to perform a same-sex union. Our members pass out our cards and tell people that they can call the church for prayer and for godly counsel...and plenty of them do. Some call with ulterior motives, and some call for the right reasons. Either way, we do too much for us to have pastor dealing with every phone call and email we get.
Also, I have plenty of "brothers in Christ". I, for one, am thankful to also have a few great people in my life who are a bit more than that to me. I know that you don't mean to be argumentative. I guess different things work for different people. Our pastor has made the effort to surround himself with a staff that is quality enough to handle many things and one that even many of the members feel can help them handle a great deal of the issues.

Ahhh, this is different than the discussion at hand. And I agree with this, what you have stated is a pastor caring for his flock. Not one who puts a bullseye on his butt and gives the world arrows.
