"Christ" is a title, too!

There has been controversy among Oneness Pentecostals about what the "real" name is. Some say "Jesus"; some say "Jesus Christ"; and others say "Lord Jesus Christ." And some of those folks teach that rebaptism is needed if words like "Lord" and "Christ" were included and some teach that rebaptism is needed if words like "Lord" and "Christ" were not included.

Re: Baptism in the Name of the.....

I no longer go to the Vineyard Church but I make several hospital calls for them each month. When we anoint with oil according to James chapter 5, there are different ways we do it and different things we say. Usually the person who anoints makes a little cross on the forehead of the person we are praying for and says, "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." Often I do the anointing and I say, "In the name of Jesus," or "in the name of our Lord Jesus," or "in the name of Jesus Christ." I just personally like to say the name "Jesus" because I believe it is the name of the Lord. However, I'm sure God knows what name we mean whatever we say. I don't have a problem with people using the "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost." One other man and I do most of the visiting and praying. I call him Father Froelich because he is a pretty staunch Roman Catholic. He uses a Catholic Bible (New Jerusalem Bible) which contains the Apocrypha and has an official imprimatur in it. It is well worn and marked. He has spent a lot of time in that Bible. I just use his Bible when we make these calls. A few times I have said things to him like, "You say you are anointing or praying for people in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost but you don't say what that name is." He takes it good naturedly but still continues to use those words when he anoints folks.

We used to have a Jerusalem Bible. It was a big ole thing! J.R.R. Tolkien was a contributor, btw.

The Name is Jesus.. his titles are many. Repentance coupled with water baptism in Jesus name is the only way the blood cleanses us from sin and redeems are fallen nature.
Agree.

If i lived alone in a small jungle deserted with noone around but myself and lived off the land, and one day a plane flying overhead dropped a bible at my feet, do you honestly think that regardless of whether i read it and want to except it and believe it that i would still go to hell just because i cant find someone to baptize me? I think not. Infact, Gods plan was intended for ALL to read. Even the people who are alone! Also, people who lie on there death bed. They are not baptized by water, but God specifically allows them to take just a little more time for them to get there life straight. There is a reason that somebody actaully lies on there "death bed" you know, God gives them time to straighten everything out. With all this being said, Baptism is a way to identify with Jesus Christ. Every Christian should be baptized, but i believe that if you were saved and then imediatelly after that you had a hard attack before you could be baptized, you are still guranteed your place in heaven.
I think you may be in left field on some things.

He could be, well tell you what...

Let's go ask the Eunuch if God would send someone to baptize a person if they were all alone!

Hey Eunuch!

Yes?

Would God send you the Word and when you are ready, send someone to baptize you?

Sure, read this: Acts 8:26-29
