Most new systems I install go for between $2,500 to $5,000 installed. That includes a chimney system. We did a soapstone stove on Sat. and that one was $4,600, but I have done many for under $3,000

$12,000 plus install ($5,000) For that outdoor unit.
My hubby looked into something like these for the church.Just a tad beyond our budget plus shipping would almost double the cost. For now we are using 2Toyostove Laser 73. This has cut our heating cost a lot. We hope to purchase the on demand hot water heater next from Toyo.
What about solar panels? Are they maybe too expensive?
Sometime next year we are installing a 6 or 8 kilowatt system on our roof. The costs ARE falling (slowly) and the efficiencies are increasing (slowly). And living in AZ means we are in one of the very few places where it CAN actually pay for itself over time due to the abundant sunshine.
Our gas isn't too bad. (From $7 - $8 in summer and one month about $140 in the winter) It's the electric bill that kills. (From $600 in winter to $1300 in summer)
Woooooiiieeee! No wonder you are not worried about the coming recession!
LOL!
I am not a Central Boiler dealer though.

Solution: Install a high efficiency wood burning stove. It will pay for it's self in 3 to 5 years - depending on the venting system configuration and wood availability. Also, provides peace of mind in power outages and economic turmoil.
I am installing this one in my office in a few weeks.
Then you should go "green". These can be very dirty for the environment, but the newer ones are burning very clean - with a voluntary EPA compliance by 2010.
Check out Central Boiler.... they have the E-Classic 2300, the outdoor wood furnace...
"that shatters virtually every preconceived notion about emissions and efficiencies of wood heating. The E-Classic 2300 uses a three-stage combustion process to burn wood so completely that combustion efficiencies approach 100%."

Ya'll quit your griping. It could be worse.
WOW! Where do you live, I don't want to make the mistake of moving there.
My lowest this year has been 53.00 the highest 242.00 and that's for gas and electric. Who say's it's expensive to live in Ca.?

I plan to get one to heat my home 3000 sq ft, my office 1200 sq ft, pool (when I get it), and all hot water.
That sounds great. We are very much wanting to go green on a lot of things. It just makes common sense. My husband would love an earth home with a windmill. He would rather go solar than wood heat though and sell to the electric company!
