Obama's wording for everything is so pointed and vague at the same time. It's astonishing that no one can see this.

agreed. and that is the main reason why we ought to own guns..... just in case the government gets out of line.
As for the comparisons, i agree that it is irresponsible to make comparisons to hitler or stalin certainly. (I still say the guy is a marxist but that doesnt mean I think he is violent and bent on soviet style dictatorship).
There is still reason to be watchfull considering the things Obama has said.
I don't think it should be impossible for anybody anywhere to be able to legally own a gun, but I also think that the Obama camp has made an interesting argument for not having one federal law apply to every community equally.

His really good and necessary idea is being blown way out of context.
It would take a "civil failure" of mammoth proportions for what folks are fretting about to happen in America. In the end, this is just partisan paranoia.
Though it is not impossible for America to become a dictatorship, but it is EXTREMELY not likely. There would be massive blood shed and the "dictator to be" would not live to see the end of the civil conflict he/she would start.

Do you realize that during the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln exceeded his constitutional authority all in the name of preserving the Union.

Obama's comments in July are talking about a civilian reserve corp that would undertake things in post war construction that our military shouldn't be occupied with. This is an idea that Bush administration has also voiced support for. It's typical fear mongering from the NeoCon side of the Republican party.
By the way, it's too bad some of these same NeoCons who are supposedly worried about Constitutional rights and such now, have allowed GWB and Dick Cheney to trod all over my 4th Amendment rights for the last 5 years. Too bad they didn't stand up for the Constitution while our phones are being tapped without any sufficient reason for doing so.
