"The record shows that voting machines in America are rigged."
"My friends Ken Follett and Susan Cheever are extremely worried. Naomi Wolf calls me every day. Yesterday, Jane Fonda sent me an email to tell me that she cried all night and can't cure her ailing back for all the stress that has reduces her to a bundle of nerves."
"My back is also suffering from spasms, so much so that I had to see an acupuncturist and get prescriptions for Valium."
"After having stolen the last two elections, the Republican Mafia…"
"If Obama loses it will spark the second American Civil War. Blood will run in the streets, believe me. And it's not a coincidence that President Bush recalled soldiers from Iraq for Dick Cheney to lead against American citizens in the streets."
American Elections are alway referendums on something. This was at first a referendum on George Bush and the Republican party with 60% not happy.
Then it was a referendum on Barak Obama on wheither or not he is capable of holding the job. he has done nothing to suggest he cant.
This election was never about what McCain was or was not doing.
I also think you have to connect with people, and make people feel like you're on their side and will be fighting for them. I think Obama and the Democrats have done a much better job of that than McCain and the Republicans.

Mike, honestly we can look at this thing and see mistakes and missteps. I yelled at the television in all 3 M/O debates because I had better answers than McCain almost every time.
but the reality as far as i am concerned is, if this set of mistakes were not made, we would be talking about other mistakes.
The mistakes only matter for the loser. But McCain was never going to win. Not without massive mistakes by the democrat.
Obama neither made massive mistakes nor did the media do its job to explore his history.

I agree with all of that except just the minor point that I think the logisitics of the McCain campaign have been a disservice to John McCain. The last I heard he's actually campaigning in Maine???????this weekend. He wasted time in New Mexico last weekend.
I agree that historically, a 5% margin could be considered decisive. I think that if Obama's going to claim some sort of mandate like W. did he has to win at least 300 electoral votes.
You're exactly right that given the climate right now with GWB, John McCain had an uphill battle from the get go. I couldn't agree more that this election could have gone two different ways. If it was about GWB and his policies, John McCain was going to lose. If it ever turned into an election about Barack Obama, Obama was going to lose. Obama had a lot of help from the media and he also had a change of fortune when the economy went south and McCain never fully recovered from that.

That's another great point. I'm not sure why,( I think it was his handlers "handling" him too much), but John McCain isn't exactly as warm and relaxed as he used to be. I used to listen to him on Imus and I thought he was a really likeable person. I always tried to catch him when he was on. Maybe it's just the toll and guardedness of the campaign but he seems to be really up tight and not as "connecting" if you will.
I heard a reporter last night who has covered McCain in the Congress for a while. He said before he ran for President he'd always run into McCain and McCain would call him "jerk" as a kidding name with the guy and ask him what he was working on, how his family was, yada yada yada. He said that all of that changed after McCain won the nomination and he was more withdrawn and just a lot more guarded. Definitely being guarded comes with a Presidential election, but too much of that can translate into a candidate not connecting with voters as well.

I think Sarah Palin is an intelligent, nice lady. I admire her christian beliefs and her accomplishments in her short political career. I've sized her up for almost two months now, and have come to the conclusion she's not qualified to be President. She was disastrous with Charlie Gipson and Katie Couric on simple questions like, "what newspapers and magazines do you read?". Why am I supposed to trust that she can handle Ahmadinejad, Pakistan, and Iraq? She hasn't traveled to other parts of the world and doesn't show any real grasp of the issues. I think John McCain would have picked up on most of this as well if he'd met her more than once.I know most here will disagree with me, but that's my conclusion on Sarah Palin.
Now, give her four more years to familiarize herself with foreign policy issues, dealing with the national media, and staying on message in a campaign and I think she'll be a formidable opponent in 2012 in the primaries.
Before John McCain picked Sarah Palin, he was leading with Independents by 15%. Today, Barack Obama is winning with Indepedents by 10%. A good percentage of those Independents have an unfavorable view of Palin and the majority don't feel she's qualified.
If you're looking at some other info, I'd be glad to see something that says Sarah Palin helped with anyone except solid base Republicans.
Sarah is a quick study, she has taken the blows of the Democrat media and is
not only still standing but is helping McCain everyday to unmask the leftist Obama. Election night will be long and many will cry and wail when the final results are complete, and their false messiah has failed.

I predict if Obama wins the election. Biden will be our President for at least 3 and a half years.
"shudder!!"

I sincerely hope you are right.
