Re: Overcoming Lust - Easy to do?

What is lust ? Lust is to continue to look with the desire to have sex.To look with out desire to have sex is not lust.

Math.5:27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
[28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
[29] And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
[30] And if thy right hand offend thee, cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

The bottom line is,if so call saved woman didn't wear cloths that showed their shape much of the problem of even just a look would stop.Men and women should wear robes. If your eyes still lust with sex desire and you can't stop, pluck it out.End of story.

Watchman nee has a book "the overcoming life" that is great about overcomin sin and how christ is our strength and we can't help oursleves to sin. Example, "I can't stop smoking but Christ can"
Anything by Watchman Nee on the subject is excellent. I did not read that book, but I did read THE NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE, and it is an awesome expose of Romans 6 through 7. It teaches how to overcome the experience of having sin in our flesh rise up and slay us, spiritually. So I would imagine that this book mentioned above is right on the money.

These issues of Romans 6 through 7 were never preached when I started in church, least of all in Pentecost, and I started hungering for those truths, since I caught a glimpse from a preacher once about what it was saying. Then I ran accross Nee's book. Never been the same since.

Joelel,

I disagree with one sentence in your post:

A man's problem with lust has very little to do with what women do or don't wear and I get tired of hearing that it does. This is just men's justification for not holding themselves accountable.

Lust is not only about men - it is also about women. Lust begins with a a look, a thought, and then an action. It can end with what ones sees if one will turn their eyes from it and not give it another thought.

Women who are fully covered from neck to feet would still incite lust in the heart of a man who's heart is filled with lust.

Pray, think on those things that are pure, holy, of good report, praiseworthy, ect... you know this.

Blessings, Rhoni

On the flip side, women when properly dressed makes it easier to not fall into lust. Showing too much skin and curves naturally makes it harder for some men to not look. Kinda like David, when did he start lusting? When he saw the women on the roof bathing. Seeing a women bathing is a little harder to resist verses completely clothed.

I do agree if a man has lust in his heart then he is the issue.

Amen. People DO have a point when they say liscentiously-dressed women do not help matters. But that does not excuse the lustful men, either. BOTH Are wrong.

Rhoni, I disagree with the first statement I marked in bold but I will agree with the second statement in bold.

HOWEVER.........a woman scantily dressed further incites lust. Sort of like an alcoholic walking into a grocery store. The alcohol is for sale in there but it is not "in your face." If the alcoholic walked into a liquor store, it would be more difficult to control his addiction because the alcohol is "in your face."
