She fired her Chief of Police as mayor of Wasilla. The firing of the Public Safety Director was a seperate issue when she was governor. In both cases people are alleging that the firings were revenge for interpersonal issues not related to their jobs.

Esther, I honestly believe that the majority of people did allow the daughters pregnancy to stay a bit private. I said before that I had heard Britney Spear's mother more roundly criticized for Jamie Lynns pregnancy than Palin

This is totally legal and in many areas even expected. The bottom line is, you want people you can work with.
A president can dismiss everyone unless he/she chooses to keep from a preceeding admin.

I can't imagine any city wanting any police officer with a record, much less the Chief of Police. And if it is like some small town justice the Chief gets by with a lot more than has been reported.
I bet if they started digging up the dirt on him, they would wonder how he stayed in his position as long as he did. JMO

So very true!!! Jamie Lynns mom was call all kinds of names. Even blamed for her daughter becoming preg! Then we have this, all seem fine and dandy. Makes one wonder what message this is sending our kids!!

No, PO actually the Police chief with the sexual past was the person who she had chosen to replace the Public Safety Commisioner when she was governor. It's all pretty complicated really
When she became Mayor she fired the police chief and it was alleged that it was because of his conflict with some of her supporters. Later when she became Governor, she fired the head of Public Safety and it was alleged that it was because he refused to fire her brother-in-law (it was her replacement to this position who had the allegations of sexual harrassment in his past and after just a few weeks had to be rescinded).
This was all a very fluid situation at the time of her announcement as running mate.

This is an involved and ongoing investigation. When I read that a Democrat was handling the investigation I thought there would be trouble. Seems that there is.
That sounds very biased....why go into an investigation assuming "there could be a surprise" unless your are NOT an unbiased investigator?
