I live in South Mississippi and Katrina devastated us here, exactly 3 years ago in the morning. I'll never forget it for as long as I live. There were 10 of us riding it out in the church and the church WHICH WE WERE IN, suffered 1.2 Million Dollars worth of damage. Because of that, people here are now easily panicked and understandably so, if you were here.

We have 4 Wal-Mart Supercenters here and they are all completely sold out of water, batteries and flashlites already. There is a huge run on Gas right now. I waited this evening for 20 minutes in a line to fill up. There were people filling up numerous gas cans and even 55 Gallon Drums. Everyone is buying everything up in order to be better prepared, should Gustave find his way to our doorstep.

I am praying that it stays away, however I know he must go somewhere. I pray for people's lives and homes. It would be unbelievable to have a repeat of Katrina. Lord, please spare us!!!

Praying for y'all, and we prayed for all in the path of this storm at church last night.

Prayers here too.

My daughter and her dh are flying in from Oregon for her 20th class reunion this weekend in Bogalusa. They arrive in New Orleans on Thursday and depart on Monday.
Pray their trip will not be in harm's way.

Suggested they rent a car and drive to Dallas if they could not depart on time.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

Will be praying for her. She will be cutting it close flying out on Monday. I am jealous that she lives in Oregon- That is one of the most beautiful states I have ever visited.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

They are reserving all of the hotels in Baton Rouge for emergency personnel. The plan is to evacuate New Orleans to North Louisiana and Arkansas. That is one reason all of the hotels in Shreveport are booked.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

I live across the lake from New Orleans and have just got the check from my insurance co. (the first check was lost & in litigation) to fix my roof damage from Katrina. My home stood during Katrina so I plan to ride out the storm, along with my little Maltese dog, if Gustav decides to head in this direction. Pray that we will be okay. My daughter wants me to go to Natchez with her but all hotel rooms are booked already.

Lol - - that was my thought back with Katrina, but I suppose if I had been born and raised there I would feel differently.

It looks like we may have a repeat of Katrina in 2005. We have been watching the storm for the past couple of days. I have already been in contact with our relatives in New Orleans and most are already preparing to leave. We happen to be in Shreveport right now and plan to ride out the storm up here. During Katrina, we had our relatives, my aunt and uncle with their 2 dogs, come and stay with us to ride out the storm. What we did not count on, was my uncle's invalid mother, his two chemically dependent brothers, and a stripper girlfriend. The other thing that no one counted on, was that they would be staying with us for 6 weeks. It did make for some interesting times and we had many stories to tell. My aunt and uncle were fortunate that their house was not affected. His mother lost her house and my aunt's daughter lost her house. Both of which have been rebuilt. I will try to keep you up to date on the happenings, as we plan to go back home as soon as the storm passes.
Amen, I also live in Louisiana!! My husband went out and picked up things like water ,batteries and a truck load of food yesterday. We have family coming in for the LSU game, he wants nothing to mess up that LSU game sat.
