Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
I was baptised in Jesus name at 13 yrs of age, and recv'd the Holy Ghost 2 yrs later.
I am 4th generation Pentecostal.
I am very thankful for a great Godly mother, that was always truthful to me.
If there was something I needed to work on, mom always told me, she did not sugarcoat a thing.
I am thankful that my family taught me faith by experience.
I have been blessed all my life.
I am thankful that God sent a good husband my way, and that He has taken care of him when he was away with the military.
I have been blessed with 2 healthy children.
I have been blessed with life, for there was an occasion that my health caused my life insurance to be cancelled, and my money was refunded.
I am very thankful for many healings, and for the good saints that you could call on for prayer.
I have been blessed meeting God's people, where friends became like family.
I am thankful for the good Pentecostal Pastors and Evangelists that I have been blessed to hear over the years.

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
My Great Grandmother Mandy Dedmon was filled with the Holy Ghost in Spanish Fort, Mississippi in the early 1900's under the ministry of Bishop A.J. Tomlinson - the Founder and First General Overseer of the CHURCH OF GOD and The Church of God of Prophecy.
She had seven daughters that played musical instruments and prophesied and "Mama" was given to dreams and visions.
My Grandmother was filled as was my mother and I was born and raised in the Church of God of Prophecy and was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 5 in a Campmeeting in Eupora, MS.
I have lived for God all my life because of the keeping power of the Holy Ghost!
I heard about baptism in the name of Jesus from a UPC evangelist and as I was a Church of God evangelist - I asked him to baptize me and he did in Pastor J. D. Butchers church in Taylor, Michigan in 1977 or 78 - I have no idea which year it was.
I married in 1980 and my wife was from Dayton, Ohio. Her mother and family had been filled for many years and my wife was the organist for The Pillar of Truth Church in Dayton when we met in 1978. After we were married and pastoring - she went back to Dayton to visit her mother who was then attending Pastor Huss Shearer's Church and he baptized her in Jesus name.
I was NOT too happy about it! LOL We were Assembly of God at the time.
After a 21 day total fast in 1982 God gave me a mighty revelation of who He is and I have never wavered from that Revelation since that day.
I am thankful for Pentecost and for preachers that preach the power of Pentecost.
Great influences in my life have been, Oral Roberts, A A Allen, R. W. Schambach, Bishop Robert Creasy (my Pastor for 11 years), Bishop J.O. Patterson, Bishop Gibert Earl Patterson, Dr. T. Wayne Parks, Bishop Michael Spires, Pastor Jentezen Franklin, Pastor Rod Parsley and Bishop T. D. Jakes.
One of my favorite things to do as a teenager was to listen to great preachers on the radio, Pastor David Epley was one of my favorites.
I love the Pentecostal church and would rather be in a black church with the Hammond Organ going 100 MPH and people dancing up a storm than anything in this world!
There ain't NOTHIN' like Good Black Pentecostal CHURCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
I remember Bro. David Epley. I didn't know much about his theology back then (70-71), but I liked his soothing voice- made you feel that everything was gonna be okay.

I know - I loved hearing his voice especially those girls singing behind him - made me think they were ANGELS!. He was soooooooooo SMOOTH! I loved it when he would say "Now I am going to take you to one of our services, Now in Progress" and then prophesy over someone and tell them their name or and something about them. It really built my faith as a teenager and I still love to hear radio preachers.

I'd love to hear some of those old radio programs again. Would be a great trip back into the days of yesterday. Can ya believe R.G. Hardy is still going? He looks and sounds exactly the same....

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
This past Sunday I was at the 11 am Promise Land West Church pastored by Randy Phillips in Austin, Texas.
Randy was finishing up a sermon series under the heading "Running on Empty" with the analogy being when your life is empty like a cars gas tank.
The sermon series was on filling up with the things that give you energy and life and covered;
1. Prayer
2. Fasting
3. God's Word
4. Giving
Last Sunday was the last Sunday and was a sermon on giving. He covered giving as both of our time and of our treasure. At the end he asked the rhetorical question "Does it matter when you give to PLW? Does it really matter?" then he said "I will show you".
Randy then left the platform as the praise and worship team moved back onstage and lined up across the rear and started singing. After they started a really cool thing happened.
One by one people either alone or with a spouse or child began to walk up on the platform with a large sign they were holding in front of them. Each sign told of their condition before God and coming to church. Then they would flip the sign over and it would say what they were like now.
This was such a cool way to tell testimonies because no one had to be scared of public speaking and they were able to have about 30 testimonies in a matter of about 15 minutes. I can't remember them all but here are some of the testimonies. By the end I had tears streaming down my face. It was very powerful.
1. 24 year drug addict - now PLW Elder!
2. Husband and wife standing next to each other. Her sign "Diangosed with Cancer" his sign (with an arrow pointing to her) said "She wanted a divorce". When they flipped over their signs hers said "healed" and his said their marriage was made whole also.
3. Suicidal, depressed - now happy Christian!
4. Approx. 12 year old girl with woman. Girls sign said something like abandoned had no mom and I can't remember what the woman's said but the girls sign turned over pointed to the woman and said "new mom that loves God!".
5. Husband left me - Divorced - now beautiful new blended family!
6. Accident vicitm - God healed!
There were many more but you get the idea. The last one was the absolute heartbreaker. A good looking couple in their 30's stood together and his sign said "our unborn child died this week: and her sign said something like "we are in church anyway to gain strength from God and our church family" (the baby had health issues but they had been believing God for a miracle).
I am going to try and get the DVD of this service.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
CC1 - someone posted a service (youtube) with this very thing as a part of it - - it was VERY stirring and a great idea to show what God does for us each and everyday.
Maybe someone will remember the thread and bump it. I know while I watched it tears were streaming down my face because that was so powerful to show that's what it's ALL ABOUT!

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
I repented, got baptized and recieved the Holy Ghost in a charismatic church....so that doesn't count as Pentecost I guess....I was rebaptized in the UPC. What the UPC did for me was put my life into context and disciple me. There was good in that.
