It sure makes it difficult when, rather than simply answering the question, people answer for every possibility of where this might be leading.
Whew... tires the mind.

What the question seems to be is not Choirs or special programs but attendance to revivals, to prayer meetings both corporate and private.
Attendance to outreach and teaching Bible Studies.
That is the question.

Well... just on a person to person level....
Young people these days must be entertained 24/7 or the get "Bored" (properly defined as..."something exciting hasn't happened in 2.7 minutes and I am about to lose my mind)

Since when has being the church just been about how many church functions you attend ... not saying they're not important ... but we're the church ... everywhere.

I think revival attendance has less to do with an entertainment society and more to do with the fact that people are tired & worn out mentally, physically & emotionally.

Are we an entertainment obsessed culture? I believe in the world at least in North America we are.
How about in the Church?
Have we become so Entertainment Focused that we would be more inclined to
be Entertainment than to Fast? Than to Pray? Than to attend Revivals?
Than to go on outreach? Than to teach Bible Studies?
In speaking to a Minister friend of mine he stated that he was against TV because it is not only not Spiritually Healthy but is a big Time Waster, when their is work to be done for the Kingdom by all the Saints not just Ministry.
He has a "Strong Point" to be made. Are we an Entertainment Oriented culture in our Churches rather than a Revival Oriented culture?
Your Thoughts?
For or against?
Why, why not?

We are a hedonistic society, carnal, sensual, ego-centric. We have been brainwashed by Hollywood to believe we need to sit in front of a TV most of our free time rather than go to church, pray, talk or have relationships with our families, exercise, read etc etc....

In our family... My wife and I get up around 6:30am. One of us starts supper immediately after work and the other gets in about the time supper is ready (6:30pm-7:00pm usually). By the time we finish eating supper with the family it is time for people to start getting baths, the kitchen has to be cleaned and by the time you get all of that done it is 9:30 or 10pm.
Now it is time to go to bed so you can start the whole process over at 6:30 again the next morning.
People are tired.
