Re: What Makes A Sandwich Great ?

I am not a huge sandwich person, but there is a great deli here calles "Nicks" and if I am going to have one, that where I get the meats and cheeses...

However all this talk of cubans (I have never had one) reminds me of the MMM MMM GOOOD Tortas back home in San Diego... You can't get them back here... The yummy torta roll, fresh grilled carne asada meat, cilantro, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, tomato.....
There's no place like home...there's no place like home.... there's no place like home....

My favorite sandwich - turkey and white cheese with lettuce and cranberry mayo or just cranberry sauce on multi grain bread. McAlisters here has one that I absolutely love!

I've never heard of cranberry sauce on a turkey sandwich, but it actually sounds good!

Think I'll try it.

To all who love the "cubans" made in Florida..next time I have one I will think of you all. Really they are fabulous sandwiches. I tried making my own ... no comparison. My all time favorite has to be the BLT! I'm making myself very hungry

Me too!

What we do though is grill the sandwich like a grilled cheese sandwich.

Stack turkey, bacon and cheese on bread - grill it on both sides, then top with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Tastes completely different than just a turkey sandwich!

I also make a cranberry relish and that's served on the side!
