Re: Sis. Lois Gatlin Terrells new book

One last remark before I go....

I remember the remarkable strength exhibited by this woman of God as she pastored the church in Metarie, La. There, with all of those children, the burden of the church and many other things that was upon her all at the same time, she demonstrated unusual courage as she faced incredible challenges almost everyday. She won the hearts of some really fine men in the church that rallied to her in support. Sister Holmes with her son very often came down to support her and rally behind her which helped to bouy her across trouble waters.

I did not live there at the time but I was honored to visit with her on occasion. She was already one of my great heros, but she garnered my admiration as she quitely went about the Master's business in such a discreet, uncomplaining, faithful manner which seem to radiate the power of the resurrected Christ in her life.

I can't wait to get her book. I'm sure she will recall many things to my mind as I reflect over the years, the life of one of God's great handmaidens.

Some of Sis. Gatlin's biggest challenge were in the paying off the debts from the previous pastor, building the new sanctuary on Jackson Ave. (when he left they were having church in an old two story house with walls knocked out) and then later, the relocation of the church from Uptown New Orleans (Jackson Ave. where the neighborhood was collapsing) to a more stable location on Orion St. in Metairie.

Her integrity and leadership in both building programs inspired young preachers to put their hand to the plow.

Re: Sis. Lois Gatlin Terrells new book

Did anyone mention her singing and song writing? I had here record years ago.
songs:
Turn Me Loose
Almighty God
I've Got to Go
I Always Wanted To Be Hero

I am definitely getting the book.

She was indeed a great lady in every respect.

And he always speaks well of your grandmother, her wisdom, kindness and strong Apostolic faith .

Other preachers are Roy Gatlin, Gearld Hightower, Irvin Dement, Buddy Sawyer and Allen Hopkins, just to mention a few others.
