Course, I know there are pyscological reasons why this happens, but, I just prefer to think that God, in His goodness and comfort allows her to let me know she is still with me in spirit.
You must miss her very much. She was your 'happy place".

Be blessed in your memories.

Re: Seeing the dead

Personally, I have never seen the dead...but I have felt that a person was getting ready to die and I had a difficult time saying good-by.

Deaths that I just knew..
...my Dad
...Sis. Barr
...Sis Barley
...Sis Sullivan.

I wanted to say good-by but couldn't. So glad we have a hope beyond this life. There are soem folks I want to see again.

My father passed away when I was 13 year old.

He passed away after a long illness that started with kidney disease.

The Lord has put him forever in my mind.

I can still smell his after shave.

I can hear his voice.

I can hear his laugh.

I hear things that I know would make him laugh.

I have done things in my life in business that were a success.

I have hit a home run in fast pitch baseball.

I have prayed with my kids.

In everything I have shared these moments in private with my dad, via the strength of his memory.

I want to document these moments in my mind.

So if on the other side the Lord gives us the moments, I can share them with him.

I see my father in my dreams and in my heart.

I do not see dead people living in some spirit form...

I agree with you.

It is however a blessing to have a dream of a lost loved one.

It is a source of comfort and joy.

If from God or the heart.

It is a great thing...

In 1953 my grandmother lived down the block from my mother. One day my mother was in the kitchen and turned to see my grandmother standing in the doorway. I don't know what she saw or how to explain it.

i do not beleive you should talk to the dead, i do beleive it is familiar spirit portraying that person. but for your grandmother standing in the doorway and waving, imo is a death angel, whether anyone beleives in that or not, thats your belief, but i beleive that was a warning from God, to be ready,

my grandmother was at home one day and the spirit angel i guess you would call it came to the door and told her that her son was going to die and that her husband was going to die 1 month later on the same date. well i beleive the Lord gets you ready for things like that, but i do not think that you want to intertain the dead , of anysort, i cant understand that you can talk to the dead and they respond, the Bible says let the dead bury the dead,
because if you intertain the spirit you are really intertaining the devil. i think the devil tries to scare people, and he can do it in that way/

i would like to hear more opinions, i hope i do not offened anyone, this is just what i saw and heard-- you got to be careful what you intertain,

Re: Seeing the dead

My story isn’t about seeing or hearing the dead, but I guess it would be along the same vein. When I got saved, I had been a wild teenager. I had an aunt that was UPC, she led an uncle to the Lord, and finally they led me. God changed my life so completely that my Grandparents were amazed, they actually followed me! When I gave my life to God, I was in “all the way”, I was 15 and I would sit on the front row of church. I took God at His word, and took copious notes in service (some AFFers may remember that! LOL). Well when people would go up to get prayed for I saw that they would take the oil and anoint the sick…
A couple of months after we started going to church, I was staying the night at my grandparent’s home when my grandpa had a heart attack. My grandma came and got me; she was in tears and said she had called the ambulance. I jumped up, knowing what I had to do, so I went to the pantry.
I took out the vegetable oil and proceeded to run to the bedroom. I got a handful of it and slapped it on my Papoo’s (grandpa) head I prayed for healing in Jesus name. The attack stopped immediately. By the time ambulance came, his head was all greasy, but he was feeling fine. They took him in anyway. After that day my Grandmother made me the honorary Papoo-pray-er, anytime his health was in danger, I was the one she called.

About ten years after first night, I got one of “those” calls. I began to pray but I felt like instead I was supposed to pray for my grandma. I told her that it was time to let him go, and we did. My grandma spent the last couple of hours with him saying all the things she needed to say. His funeral was beautiful, and I will always thank God that He let my grandma and I in on that little secret just a couple of hours early.

Re: Seeing the dead

We need to distinguish between dreams and visions. I think dreams of dead people have a healing affect. But if it turns into a vision or going to the grave and talking with them, we cross a line into possible familiar spirits area.

My wife and I live in her family home. We moved here to help tend to her father. He passed several years ago. He used to call her name from his room whenever he needed help with something. Several times after he died my wife and I have both heard him call her name. His voice, same way of speaking and running the syllables of her name together, “stephnee,” instead of “Stephanie.”
We recognized it as familiar spirits and prayed—did all the Pentecostal things, bound the devil, pleaded the blood, anointed with oil, etc. Whatever we did worked…we have not been bothered with it since.

Very good post.

The primary way God leads His children is through the Holy Spirit impressing your human spirit.

Next is the "still small voice". Then the louder more urgent voice, which a person could mistake for an actual audio voice, but it is only heard in your spirit. After those three ways, are dreams and visions. As a last resort, God might send another person to give you a message. These are all progressive steps God might take to get a message thru to any of his children. (By that, I mean, if you did not hear or recognize the voice of God, at one level He would step it up to the next level.)

There are at least two qualifiers or safety mechanisms, by which you can test the validity of the above described messages. They will never contradict the written word, and they will always validate what you already know deep down in your belly (spirit). You may have to stop and listen closely, get real quiet for a day or two, in order to hear what your own spirit is trying to tell you.

Any message which does not meet these two qualifiers, should always be ignored. This especially includes so called "personal prophesies" give over you by self proclaimed prophets.
