Sister, I am conservative on some issues, liberal on some, moderate on some, and ultra-con on at least one. I tried the best I could to figure out which label best fits me, and I couldn't decide.
Gang, this should be a lot of fun. I was thinking yesterday about labels, and how hard we try to pin either a liberal, moderate, conservative, etc., label on each other, depending on our beliefs. I thought it might be fun, since I don't feel as if I fit under any of these categories, to start a poll where y'all can decide what category I would fall into. Here's is a list of some of my beliefs:
Salvation:I believe a person must be convicted of their sin, repent, be water baptized in Jesus name, and filled with the Holy Ghost (evidenced by speaking in tongues) to be a member of God's Church an on their way to Heaven. I consider this to be a conservative belief. 1 point
Holiness:I believe God's children partake of Christ's holiness through their faith. Good works accompany true faith. By good works I mean loving your neighbor, feeding the poor, taking care of widows, visiting those in prison. This isn't a complete list, but it's to give you an idea of what I consider to be good works. I consider this to be a moderate belief. 1 point
Standards:I believe the Bible teaches modesty in dress and behavior. I believe personal conviction needs to be what defines modesty and good behavior, unless specifically defined in scripture. I consider this to be a liberal belief. 1 point
TV, Internet, Radio:I believe in using wisdom when choosing programs watched on TV, sites visited on the internet, and music listened to on the radio. I also believe in using these forms of media in spreading the Gospel to the masses.I consider this to be a liberal belief. 1 point
End Time Propehcy:I believe all prophecy regarding end time events will be fulfilled, before the second coming of Christ. I consider this to be a moderate belief. 1 point
Pagan Holidays:I do not celebrate Christmas or Easter. I do, however, observe some secular holidays, such as New Year, July 4th., and Thanksgiving.I consider this to be an ultra-conservative belief. 2 points
Communion:I believe in observing foot washing and communion. I have no real preference between wine and grape juice. However, I will say I believe the first communion was celebrated using wine. I consider this to be a conservative belief. 1 point
Did I leave any of the things we argue over out? So, it's up to you guys to vote. Where does Rico fit in the ultra lib, lib, mod, con, ultra-con spectrum? This poll will be private, so don't worry about hurting my feelings. I won't know who votes what and your votes aren't likely to change my beliefs anyway. Have fun.
Ok. I just did some calculations. In the five categories in my poll, each one gets one point, with the exception of the ultra categories. They get two points. I have given each of my stated beliefs above the corresponding point value. It's a dead tie between lib, mod, con, and ultra-con. I'm a mess y'all!
Rico, if I am out of line, tell me and I will delete my question here but I have to ask, do you currently attend a church?
Your question is not out of line at all. Other than the home meeting thing, and the online preaching I listen to every now and then, no, I don't belong to a church. I am willing to belong to one, but haven't found one I felt the Lord was saying I needed to join. The last church I was a member of is the one Brother Flemming had in Dale. It's been shut down now for about a year and a half.

We've only had one home meeting with the other family so far. My wife and I talked about this last night, and we've decided to make it a weekly thing we do, whether we can meet with the other family or not. The only difference will be that, with the other family, we will stay on course with the Bible study we started on and our family only meetings will be more like expanded family devotionals, if that makes sense.
I am really trying to avoid the whole becoming a preacher thing, in case you can't tell. lol I tried that and living in a glass house didn't suit me well. I have, however, been trying to figure out a way to get into the local jail, if possible. They generally require some sort of official sanction from a religious org. before they will let you in. The ALJC offers a chaplain certification program, but I don't really know exactly how I feel about the whole thing, to be honest with you. I am still trying to get some things worked out in my head and heart over the prison ministry thing.
So, in a nutshell, I am kinda tip toeing around some issues. I definitely feel the home meetings is something the Lord wants for us to do, and I feel led to go back into prison ministry, but I am having problems embracing it. Pray for me that I will know the will of God in these matters.

I will do that.

Hmmm I could offer a few suggestions.
