Sometimes I have heard preachers give a "word" for a particular church. Should this "word" trump the written word if it appears to be in conflict?
Either you consider him a Man of God or you don't. Sometimes the Lord just may check your spirit to see where your level of submission is. Yes, sometimes preaching seems contradicting. We are saved by and through faith. Not logic.

As an anointed preacher expounds the word of God, sometimes God directs his thoughts and he speaks as the mouth of God. My pastor has spoken the exact words I have prayed before and preached on a subject that I had been studying. I'm not saying everything that is preached is directly from the Spirit of God but for sure, some of it is.

To be a servant of God, it will cost us our total commitment to God, and God alone. His burden must be our burden... Sis Alvear
Our neighbours started coming to church back last summer and the wife thought for sure we were telling the pastor everything she would ask and talk about during our Bible Studies, because he would get up every service and address the exact things she would ask just days before. Exact feelings she would express.
It lasted for a good 5 Sundays straight...

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

There is no doubt that certain preachers are in touch with God, and deliver what they strongly feel is the voice of God. All I am saying is that God's word is established in the Holy Bible, and anything a preacher says or does MUST line up with what has already been established centuries ago.
If it doesn't line up with established scripture, it's nothing but hogwash!

So what's on your mind PM?

Were the Bereans in Acts 17:11 wrong for checking on what Paul preached? Should they have just trusted Paul and "lined up" in submission without questioning anything?

I agree.
