As I mentioned before, she was the first of our family to hear and obey
the apostolic plan of salvation.
After God had healed her as she lay dying with typhoid fever in 1926 (I made an
error in the first post of saying it was in 1928), she was 28 yrs. old. My dad who
was 8 yrs. old witnessed the doctor telling his father,"Lizzie's dying! See the blue on
her feet and legs".
A few years later, the message of Acts 2 came to their small town and after search-
ing the scriptures to see if these things be so or not, she found them to be so, and
obeyed this message, along with her young son, my father.(14 yrs. old by now).

After God had healed Grandma, she continued with her young son, to read the Word
of God. Faith came by hearing and "eating" the Word of God.

During this time her young daughter became very ill with what they later decided was
appendecitis. It got to where she could hardly eat or drink and became very weak.

Grandma was desperately trying to trust God as she believed that healing was included
in the atonement. That Jesus suffered stripes for our healing and if we didn't avail our-
selves of it, He took them in vain.

It came to the place where her side turned dark and my grandfather, who was a self-
taught "vet" told her, "You've waited too late, gangrene has set in". The pastor's
mother had already come out to their farm and told her if the child died, it would bring
on a reproach to the church. Grandma said, No, Sis. Sally, "What brings a reproach on
the church is when the church preaches that God can heal but as soon as someone
gets sick, they run to the doctor". So I can imagine what Grandma was going through
with both the pastor's mother and now her husband saying it was too late. What was
a young mother who God had healed when she was yet a Methodist, to do.

Leaving her husband to watch their daughter (I think she was 8), Grandma went down
to a little persimmon thicket where she would go to get alone with God. She poured out
her heart to God, telling Him she had endeavored to trust Him and knew He could heal
her child, BUT, "nevertheless, YOUR WILL be done". She wept as she gave her child up
to God.(reminds me of Abraham and his son, Isaac). She arose and went to the house
to find the child sitting up in bed, asking for food and drink. She lived well past 70 yrs.

Many years later, as an adult, living in Garland, Tx, this daughter went to the doctor
for an unrelated situation. The physican who attended her, asked her who had done
her appendectomy. She told him the story. All he could say was "Incredible"!!!

Grandma trusted God all the remaining days of her life. She covered her family with
prayer. She "ate" the Word of God daily. I know I am a recipient of her prayers.

Blessings,

I had missed this thread! I think that I was on my AFF fast during that time.

The story about your Grandma was very touching. I was so glad that it was bumped this evening. Thank you.

This is the first i have seen this thread... thanks for sharing your heritage. I especially loved that picture of the 5 generations...

I am thankful for my heritage as well... I am 4th raising a 5th. Just this past week at camp, I watched my great nephew (6th generation) was refilled with the Spirit.. it is just precious to see... "the promise is to you and your children". I saw the continuing legacy of my parents.

Just to think it started so long ago.... one woman (my great granny Williamson) received the Holy Ghost and JN baptism... then was joined in this faith by her three daughters (Sally, Lillian, and June) who had children and the generations have continued from there... countless serving God...

The church I attend has so many decendants of those three daughters... only one is still surviving today "June Sargent" She handed me an invitation to her 90th birthday this past Spring while in church... she is still going strong. Sometimes I sit by her in church, and I am touched deeply by her faithfulness to God.... what a testimony her life is.

My grandmother was Lillian Reading... many of her children have passed on (including my father) but I attend church with 4 of her daughters (my aunts) and their children/grandchildren and even great grandchildren.

My grandmother (Lillian) shared the gospel with Hazel Walker who became a pillar in the church as well... Hazel's daughter Jacqueline (my mom) married my dad and they were in the ministry for almost 50 years. The church they pastored continues under the ministry of my brother.

A while back, I was singing at a dedication of my little cousin. Pastor called the family up to witness as he usually does... everyone found it funny that what seemed like half the church headed to the altar area.

The family sticks together and all the decendants of those three women claim each other as relatives. It is a very big and loving family and I am glad I am a part.

Thank you, Bro. Blueaugust,

You feel free to use that story to the glory of God.

In the 5th generation photo, Grandma Lizzie and her son, my late father, have
gone on to be with the Lord. Grandma passed on the next year after the pic was
taken. I had wanted to get another of the 5 generations, but my daughter and
her family had moved. Dad went Home in Oct. 1989, five yrs. to the month Grandma
passed on.
Our daughter holding her 2 wk old baby, turned 48 yrs. old this past week,
Philip will turn 25, Aug 1. He has been married just over 4 yrs. When his first child is
born (none in sight yet), it will be the beginning of another generation. This will
probably be our first GREAT-grandchild. Philip is a licensed apostolic minister.

One generation passes away and another appears. My husband of almost 49 yrs,
(July 11, 2008) are next in line to go beyond the horizon as far as our immediate
family is concerned.
May all who come behind us, find us faithful!

Blessings,

Falla39

Sis. Lisa,

Thank you for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed some of my heritage.

Thank you also for sharing some of your rich apostolic heritage! I enjoyed

it as well! I wish more would share their stories as it is so encouraging to hear

the marveleous things God HAS done, IS doing and WILL CONTINUE to do for

His people as long as they will trust and serve Him in sincerity and truth!!

Blessings,

Re: Falla's Gma, First to Obey Apostolic Message

Just want everybody to know that my eldest daughter, aged 8, has received the Holy
Ghost on a recent Sunday School Kiddie Camp held in our District. I am a second generation apostolic and that makes her third. I guess now I do understand what Sis Falla must have felt for her family heritage. I can't explain the joy as a father when my kid got the Holy Ghost!

And yes... May all who come behind us find us faithful...

Bro. Blueaugust,

The longer you live and the more you serve Him, it just grows
sweeter and more blessed all the time. As we get older we realize
the value of those things which maybe didn't seem so important when
we were younger and immature. But when we see our children and
grandchildren coming along and we realize a lot depends on us to pass
along the heritage that was given to us. We realize what a responsibility
it is to make sure that those behind us know enough to be to arrive at
where we are looking forward to going.

I rejoice with you over your daughter receiving the Holy Ghost!

Blessings,

Falla39

I meant to say my husband and I, as far as the eldest in line, age wise.
are next in line to cross over. However we never know who God will take
next as He doesn't always go by our ages.

The blessings of the children lie in the obedience of those who precede them.
Parents, grandparents, etc.

Re: Falla's Gma, First to Obey Apostolic Message

Yes, Grandma Lizzie has been gone almost 27yrs, and that little firstborn grandchild (son) of
ours just had his 28th birthday Aug. 1. He and his sweet wife of almost 8 yrs, are now
the firsttime parents of our first Great-grandchild (daughter).

When I think of "what if" God had not raised up Grandma Lizzie, five generations of our
family might not be on earth today to tell the marvelous things GOD HAS DONE!
"What IF Abraham had not believed God..and it was accounted unto him for righteous-
ness! There would have been no Isaac or Jacob, no children of Israel (Jacob).

Without faith, there would have been no Hebrews 11.

WITHOUT FAITH it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God. For he that cometh to GOD,
must believe that HE IS, and that HE IS a REWARDER of them that diligently seek HIM.
No lie is of the TRUTH. TRUTH sets mankind free from the law of sin and death. He whom
the Son sets free is free indeed!

Just some thoughts!
