It would definitely create more problems than it solves. It seems to me a better answer would be to make the focus of public assistance one more geared towards getting people educated and placed in jobs.

Berk, it may surprise you to find out that companies in America are begging for qualified applicants. Take manufacturing for example. Manufacturing in America has definitely gone high tech. Companies are struggling to find qualified people to fill the high tech manufacturing jobs available in this country. I read some articles a couple of years back that dealt with this issue. Some companies are having to place ads nationwide, offer relocation assistance, and other perks and bonuses just to get people to apply. There is also a severe shortage of qualified medical personnel in this country. Check out any hospital's website of open positions and you will see what I am talking about.
I am in favor of decriminalizing some drugs, like marijuana.
Our current drug laws create so many more problems than they solve that I don't even want to get started. Actually, I really can't think of any problems that they do solve.
