I was at the church just today briefly while they were practicing (ME, VL, AL, TE). It was awesome, I can't wait for Sunday night!

Sis. Vonnie Ewing Lopez is a member of his group and he called her about coming to do the concert. He also told her that Oneness people have sang with them before and they always change...but she hadn't. He asked what is it that is so different? Also, he is going to be in Lake Charles with the Ewings for the entire weekend and will be reportedly attending Sunday Morning service at Eastwood. They are expecting a standing room only crowd. Wow!
Whoa you guys are star struck like that? Man! Its just Kurt Carr. Why would a church service be standing room only because he is in attendance? I dont get it. Kurt doesn't even PREACH! Oh well, thats people for you. I guess when you grow up around gospel star's like I did (i.e. Love Fellowship Tabernacle) you kinda dont get star struck.

I believe the wisdom that's been used is that no one has judge Kurt Carr to hell for being trinitarian.

How can we change people if we shun them?

There is a difference in being "star struck" and apprecating good talent that you know is going to bless you.

I would be excited also if someone like that was going to be at my church.

It is not genunine to act like there is nothing unusual going on when a very talented and successful gospel music singer is going to be at your church. Especially if you attend a UPC church.

Why begrudge them this excitement and anticipation?

Why would we bother trying to change him if his doctrine is ok?

I'm not talking about being unkind or hateful, but acknowledging a person's lost condition doesn't equate to shunning them.

Well, brother we know his doctirne is not ok if he believes in the trinity! I can assure you that ME and VL doesn't hide their 'oneness', these people are masters of influence. "Wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove..."

I trust their ability to affect him and those around them!

The Ewings are friends of mine.

I have preached there.

I definitely wasn't indicting them in any way, just responding to the post I quoted.

I guarantee that if Brother Ewing gets half a chance, he will be witnessing to KC or anybody else.

I have the highest respect for him.

Standing room only doesn't really equate to that many people--relative to what kind of crowds KC usually has at his concerts.

As for star struck???? I like a good concert just as much as the next person.

I think that in general more famous types (or infamous) are harder to witness to, whether because of their own separation from "commoners", or because of their self-perception, (or any number of other issues), so when an opportunity arises, its appreciated by everyone. ...probably worthy of a bit of excitement. In the New Testament, usually it was worthy of mention when one of the apostles witnessed to any notable member of society, or had any encounters with them.

Your post is kind of strange.

Apparently, he's hung with so many famous people in his lifetime that for others to speak about such things is meaningless to him and he fails to see excitement any longer. It's sad.

Oh, and you misspelled 'kind of'. It's supposed to be spelled 'really'.
