Did they get into their car, turn on the air conditioning and the stereo and burn rubber on their way out of the parking lot?

Teaching a series, they contended meant the pastor was not allowing the Spirit to direct the services as the pastor had ALREADY PLANNED what the topic was about.

I have heard of people leaving a church because someone sat in their pew, or someone did not speak to them.

One even left a church because he had to walk 3 blocks from where he had to park his car.

Someone left the church here because of the SCREEN whereupon the words of the songs and Powerpoint are displayed.

Have you heard of any other dumb reasons why people leave a church??

When we moved to a new location, I had the husband of woman who attended our church not come because we were using a college classroom, he wanted a church building with a steeple and all the trappings of church.

It is one thing to do a series once or twice a year.

But when you get a series for every season.

Or series out of a self help book.

It gets old.

Somehow I think that church was a little better off without them.

Re: Dumb Reasons People Leave a Church

In our Easter/Passion play (wayyyyy before the Passion of The Christ Movie) Our Jesus wasn't wearing a shirt. He had a sheet wrapped around his waist to his knees, and of course he was covered in blood. Our Pilate's wife also wore egyptian-type make up...
We lost quite a few members over those, and of course our pastor was accused by other ministers of sending his church to hell. It was the greatest outreach we ever started, and they still continue (almost 20 years running now).

I moved from the area, but every time I go home I get too see some old buddies over there!

Not to get into a standards debate here, but how is that consistent if you teach or preach standards? Why then would it be dumb to leave that church?
