I know that we are instructed to forgive 70 times 7- in one day...but, at what point is it JUST NOT WORTH the pain anymore? When you have forgiven over and over and over again...is it ever time to 'move on', in an effort to 'save' your emotional and spiritual health, or do you stick around and suffer till Jesus comes? All the while playing the role of the proverbial 'martyr'. Does the time come, when the one doing the offense actually loses respect for the one always overlooking, and forgiving?

Is it ever okay to just forgive once and for all, and then walk away and not look back? Sometimes the hurt is just too heavy to bear any longer...are we, as christians, required to offer ourselves up as a human sacrifice to those that would suck the very life from us?

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your response to this post Renda...does your 'tough love' scenario include married couples?

Very possibly so!

If not, then at least sometimes love is tough.

This song dropped in my spirit this afternoon and I thought of this thread...

I said if you knew, you wouldn't want me
My scars are hidden by the smile I wear
He said, "My child, my scars go deeper.
It was love for you that put them there."

I am loved...you are loved
I can risk loving you
For the One who knows me best
Loves me most

I am loved...you are loved
Won't you please take my hand
We are free to love each other
We are loved

Forgiven!! I repeat, I'm forgiven!!
And clean before my Lord I freely stand
Forgiven I can dare forgive my brother
Forgiven I reach out to take your hand

I am loved...you are loved
I can risk loving you
For the One who knows me best
Loves me most

I am loved...you are loved
So won't you please take my hand
We are free to love each other
We are loved

Christ has forgiven me MUCH...how dare I not forgive?!

Since the heart is only known by God, how can we be SURE?

Sis. Barb,

I had gone to bed and couldn't sleep so I thought I would browse

the threads for a little while. I had not opened this thread until now

and only the last two or three pages.

This song triggered a response as I remember when it was very

popular. Have always loved the words and the melody! Thanks for

posting them here as I had forgotten some of the words.

Blessings,

Falla39
