I was a licensed UPC minister for several years and one can't be saved in the UPC without tongues, yet I maintain I never truly "spoke in tongues" so I'm wondering if your experience is similar to mine.

I spoke what sounded like tongues, to myself and to everyone around me. At least, nobody ever told me they discerned otherwise. Looking back, IMO, I was just making it up, imitating what I heard others do. It felt real to me, especially the first several times. Got the goosebumps, euphoria, etc.

I missed out on the goosebumps and the euphoria so I may be in worse shape than you!!

As you know, I'm still a STRONG follower of Christ, and I'd say, stronger than ever. But "tongues" is a very sore subject for me.

You know what's funny...I was never into the emotionalism at all. Zilch. Just couldn't do it. But now that I'm gone from all the emotionalism, I'm more emotional than ever. Hoovie calls it "head-banging" but I guess I'm a full-fledged, go-for-it head banger!! Actually Timmy, I think you'd like it!

But seriously, I don't much care for the lyrics, either. Pretty defeatist. "Nothing really matters"? But it's just a story, told from a certain point of view. This fellow seems depressed, and why wouldn't he? He's a murderer! Don't you feel a burden for his soul? And isn't the headbanging awesome?
