Re: Have You Been to WWPF Lately?

Why all the hoopala over TV vs. Internet? What ever happened to good old fashioned door knocking and home bible studies? Does the bible not teach us to go to the lost and compel them to come (not for them to come looking for us) GO WPF!!!

And so many of them find themselves in a vacuum, trying desperately to make sense of what has happened.

I have heard people (again I have an official of the UPC as my house guest for a season and he is MOST vocal about his opinion concerning the happenings in the Western District that he is part of) ) and they feel that it was ALL political. That seems rather simplistic to me as while there are undoubtedly those who WERE motivated SOLELY and COMPLETELY by political ambition, (Can YOU say Nate Wilson?) most of the "little" guys were there more from disgust with the organization that had for decades in some cases and lifetimes in others, so completely held their loyalties.

Its really sad, and yet its not and then it is again. because some of us feel so caught between Egypt and the Promised land and feel that we are being held back from really going over EN MASSE into the land that our forefathers only beheld from far off. And so it appears to some of us that God is beginning the business of smashing the boxes that men have built over the past hundred years of this revival, and what happens???? A bunch of people break out of one box and immediately seek to begin construction on another!

Its sad all the way around.
I think we should be careful when naming God called men by name - The bible still tells us "Touch not mine annointed and do my prophets no harm" regardless of how you feel about the split they are still God called and ordained to be leaders and deserve our respect.

Lucylou, I do believe in giving honor to the ministry but the lack of ethics these men displayed caused me to lose much respect towards them.

Re: Have You Been to WWPF Lately?

I am the husband to Arkansas Girl and I am amazed at what I see on this "apostolic" website. I thought we had found a place to fellowship with other believers. Clearly, we were wrong. It seems we have stumbled upon a group of kindergartners who is fighting over the blocks or who is going to be in the front of the line. What about souls? Do we put as much effort in soulwinning as we do in arguing these ridiculous topics? What about serving God? Where is God in all this stupidity you people call a forum? A Sunday School teacher in our church once told his class, "Oh, bull! Just live for God!" Oh that the whole church, denomination aside, would live by this wonderful advice.

Re: Have You Been to WWPF Lately?

I have to agree with you "Arkansas girl". The bitterness gets pretty rampant. Not to mention the 'ministerial gossip'. I used to work at the Publishing House several years ago, and "No!", I'm not a disgruntled employee. They were everyday people working there, just like you and me. But the UPCI HAS changed over the years. I currently attend a UPC church in the St. Louis area. We now have "show-time" religion, and not Old time religion. Congregational singing has been replaced by "off-the-wall" singing. Hymnals are not vogue. The praise team entertains with "therapeautic" strains of "Here I am to Worship, Here I am to bow down", (although none do - "bow down"). Once in a while the drummer gets wild, and everyone bounces up and down in time, but I'm not really sure it's fire shut up in their bones. I can't tell you the last time I heard a sermon about "hell". And there's aren't any more altar calls. We just all go up around the front at the end of the service. It's less offensive that way. Yup, and I'm the organist. Playing such watered down music - singing about the 'rain' so much we're all wet. We don't sing any songs with the power of a rushing mighty wind, or fire any more. We just sing the songs that are made famous by our American Idols. Right on our platform.

Sorry folks, criticize the WPF all you want. I've never even met one, but I'M INTERESTED!!! Check out the old testament. I remember the FIRST temple. This second one we're in DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE!!!!

I backslid and lived in the world for 17 years. Lost my family, my home, and my job. My parents never stopped praying for me. THANK YOU JESUS, for having mercy on me, and letting me come back. It's odd that I now see the 'church' yearning for the stuff I had in the world, and while I was in the world, I desperately needed what the church had.

I've already made my reservations to go to Tulsa - I prefer to know the truth for myself, rather than listen to "he said", and "she said". You can't judge a book by it's cover. Just because a few WPF may come across as holier than thou, doesn't mean that's what the leadership stands for. God help us all if our leaders were judged by what we say and do. And, I'm not buying the stuff about "how they left". The first thought that ran through my mind when I backslid and left the church was how those people thought they were better than me.

EXACTLY what you hear the WPF accused of. Sorry folks, strait is gate, narrow is the way, and few that find it. I'm wanna find out more about the 'few''. Hell has widened it's mouth to handle the majority. (and for those with Satan on their shoulders, "No, I wasn't inferring that the UPCI is headed for hell.")

Wow - so refreshing - I guess I have to recant my earlier post. Sunday night we sang the old stuff, and had a real down-home barn burning HolyGhost Fire falling service. It was wonderful!

I'm really glad that you had a great service. It seems that you are refreshed by it. Let me just say, however, that not all of the newer stuff is bad. It seems that every generation goes through this struggle as the newer generations develop. Almost unvariably, what one refers to as "Old Time music" was in its infancy criticized as "that new stuff".

True dat.

I would think that if someone was in a dead service that they would begin to pray that God would send revival, not harp on about the dearth in the land. For some people it is always someone elses fault.

Most of the time we have great services, usually when I pray through! I don't try to blame someone else for my carnality.

WPF, UPCI, AMF they are just vehicles, like Ford, Chevy, Toyota!

Re: Have You Been to WWPF Lately?

there is bitterness among all groups...the important thing is to keep our hearts pure and our eyes on the goal...
