He was talking about sexual sins against your spouse. And he had a good point. If you love your spouse like you are supposed to truly love them, you wouldn't want to hurt them. And if you loved God like you should, you wouldn't sin against Him. That's a pretty startling thing to realize, IMO. Mainly, because I think we throw the word "love" around very carelessly. We say, "I love tacos, this song, shoes, etc." and we don't realize the depth of meaning.
Of course, sinning begins with choosing to walk after the flesh and not the spirit. When we are walking after the spirit, we are not fulling the desires of the flesh. Our love can wax cold when we are carnal. Notice that wax doesn't harden right away, it is a process. Obviously, the longer that you walk after your selfish desires, you can do grave damage and love just is not involved in that kind of hurt. It has to be pure selfishness on our part.

Re: Ministries for women porn addicts
My soteriological views and idea concerning justification may explain where I'm at.
For one, I don't believe in licentiousness. Mostly because when a person belongs to Christ, and they act as those who are condemned, they are placing themselves or "allowing themselves to be deceived" ( 1 Cor 15), thus placing themselves in danger of the same judgement. When are don't behave as who we are, we eventually become who we weren't supposed to be. Habitual sin leads to unbelief. We received grace by belief. So that may explain where I'm coming from with that. My view of salvation is much more solid and secure than many of my brothers and sisters on the forum, yet I believe firmly in the work of sanctification.
Now... the subject here is more of "what" is sin. Some are quite certain. Others aren't.

Compassion sometimes comes in the form of trying to help others avoid the pitfalls you've tripped over yourself. In general, sex has at least one clear boundary: marriage. Sexual purity requires that we restrict ourselves to that arena, first and foremost.
I still stand by my original statement: Within a marriage, couples can enjoy one another freely, as long as they are avoiding immoral, criminal or injurious behavior.

I'm not sure how helpful some of the comments will be for those struggling. Let's be real.
I agree with your last statement 50/50?

But our issue with sin, I believe, is much deeper than love.
By the Spirit we can fully love, or are able to fully love. But by ourselves, unfortunately, love is not all we need.
I agree with your basic premise though. Especially the last part of that final paragraph.

Jeffrey, I don't think that speaking truth is going to hurt anyone. Truth sets us free, and we find truth in God's Word. It leads us in the direction we should go. Sometimes we flounder because working out problems using purely human logic can be confusing and allow for a LOT of gray areas. Conversely, the Bible gives us clear guidance that we can apply to those situations to remove the confusion.
This is a discussion thread, and I expect to see a full range of views. Since this is a Christian forum, I think we can expect a certain amount of biblical backup for comments that are made. When someone colors outside those biblical lines, it can be shocking and cause some knee jerk reactions. I expect sinners to be sinners. I expect Christians to at least agree that sin is wrong, even if they personally struggle with a particular issue.
It doesn't bother me that TS thinks all role playing is wrong. For whatever reason, that's his take. He's a pretty black and white kind of guy, so it's predictable when he posts quick, terse answers.
I'm somewhere in the middle, I guess, because I think it's fine to have fun, but there are still lines that shouldn't be crossed, especially if it means bringing in a third party. Whether that third party is real or imaginary is irrelevant to me. I just don't agree that dressing up in a sexy outfit constitutes bringing in a third party. All Apostolics should know that putting on a different outfit doesn't mean you're a different person.

Some of what I read wasn't truth. It was cold, heartless, condemnation -- which was even worse combined with poor theology. That didn't set free, it bound.
Regarding your second paragraph, your expectations haven't failed. Christians believe sin is wrong. Did I miss something? I think we discussed WHAT was a sin.
It does bother me when some "weaker brothers" take their puritan ideas and cast them on others in condemnation. Yes, that bothers me a lot.

You want to accuse people of having other problems because they don't agree with you? Do you do that with every topic you discuss? Is that how you react when you are frustrated? It looks pretty ridiculous and lame to me.

Actually, it wasn't a blanket charge. And I admitted it was likely unfounded and due to sarcasm. Unfortunately, it has often been true.
I'm not frustrated! hahahaha. I think the frustrated are those rigid types that condemn sexual fun.
And frankly nothing was directly related to you. You sounded a bit defensive on that one.

Jeffrey,
I noticed the post standing alone and thought it took a very wrong direction and I wanted to bring that to your attention. There is no point in saying ignorant things and when called on it, you point back at me to say I'm defensive. You could have left your above post in better tact by ending with what you said in your first paragraph - "And admitted it was likely unfounded and due to sarcasm".
And frankly, if a man needs his wife in a costume for role playing, I think he doesn't really know much about real love making. Not someone I'd recommend wasting time with. Just my two cents - back at ya!
