If someone would willfully lay out of church for a month if there was a church for them to go to Id say there something very wrong indeed.

Church can't save anyone, only Jesus can do that. If a church goes outside the gospel of grace as Jesus taught being the only way unto Him, I'd avoid it like the plague as well. If you can't stand for Jesus without the church, your already lost~

Yes, only Jesus can save.

CLUE: he uses THE CHURCH!

initially through the preaching of the Gospel.

And then people grow in grace as they gather with the church and are edified and hear exortation, reproof and rebuke. All done decently and in order in THE CHURCH.

Anyone attempting to serve God by himself is serving a philosophical illusion.

God ordained the church, Christ's body.

If you are your own little island, serving your concept of God without the body? You are lost and desperately need finding,

But be of good cheer, Jesus came to seek and save that which is lost.

Well, for one thing, some of us really don't like being around church folks a whole lot. Speaking for myself, there's only so much "togetherness" I can handle before people start getting on my nerves. Plus, when you've been down the road of trusting people only to get hurt, (especially by preachers), it really affects your desire to want to be in church.

You know.. something I have learned in my young age (24).... when everyone is the problem, usually that means that I'm the one with a problem.

Well, perfect opportunity to introduce you to Atkinson's first law of expectations: "Never expect people to be anything more than people. Never expect God to be anything less than God."

People will disapoint you just like you no doubt have disapointed others. Jesus doesn't disapoint anyone.

Why do you think Jesus talked about forgiveness, all the 70 x 7 stuff?

Cut ourselves off from the body because people didn't meet our expectations?

If I depended on people for this thing, I would have just went back to being a coke-snorting head banger a looooong time ago.

I have learned at my mediocre age (44) that everyone else has the problem...and I am quite sane, sane, sane, sane, sane.....

If one thinks that the ONLY reason they should go to church is for their own needs and only for when they need it....there is something very wrong with their view of what it means to be a part of the body of Christ to begin with
