Reminds me of a T shirt I saw that said
"If the music's too loud
you're too old."
I'm 70 years old and agree.
Because of my age I like the music in the Gaither videos and I don't listen to contemporary Christian radio. But, if kids can relate to, be reached by, and worship God in another kind of music, I'm all for it.

Thank you, Ron.
That's one of the things that makes this forum good.
We can see things differently and do things differently and still accept and respect one another.

I don't know if Bono is "looking our way" but I do know that he does speak in tongues and he an all of U2 are strong and vocal about their Christian faith. All of them, (except the bass player who came to faith in this decade), became Christians not long after their first big album back in the early 80's. They got hooked up with an ultra-con holiness group at about the same time and almost got out of the music biz. That would have been a tragedy, imo. Thankfully they've kept the music going and in doing so have done a good work for the kingdom, imo.
Regarding NYC, I can see how people may have been disappointed in the timing of their nod to TV people. But, I guess I'm a pragmatic guy. If God is moving and people are excited about God and young people are trying to connect their faith to the world in positive ways then I am happy to let protocol go by the wayside in favor of God doing his thing in people. I talked to several people who attended NYC and they were genuinely excited about what they saw. They were excited about the freshness of the approach and the style. But they were more enthused about the ideology behind the changes which said to them that things are changing and we're going to do something meaningful and not just maintain the status quo. They saw leadership and vision and that's what excited them. Somebody made the comment in another post that this generation wants to be known for what they're FOR and not just what they're AGAINST. I think there's alot of truth to that statement. To put a damper on that is truly insane in my opinion, but it appears that's exactly what the "mod's and "cons" in charge have decided to do.They're crushing the dreams and visions of young ministers....again. Somebody needs to break the systemic cycle. Evidently it won't be this current generation of UPC leadership. I wonder if the emerging generation will hang around to wait for their "turn"? I doubt the progressive ones will. I didn't.

hahaha! EVERYBODY says that. Actually, I think Josh Tree was where they went commercial. Before that they were a true blue punk band. In JT they went mainstream and it's been a pretty good ride for them ever since.
