I'm sorry, I realize I kind of flew off the handle on that one. Sensitive subject, I ranted before my wisdom (such as it is) prevailed.
No problem.

dizzyde, I know I quoted your post , but I really was still talking about this thread's primary subject matter. I already answered your question, since I did state that if a person KNEW for a FACT, (that a person was gay or having an affair, etc.), they should tell. I simply clarified that suspicions and opinions are not the same as KNOWLEDGE and FACTS.
In the post Esther replied to, CG's mil was challenging the idea that anyone really "knew", since its easy to say after the fact that you "knew" something, when in really you only suspected.
Again, my point is, if you suspect someone of impropriety or criminal behavior or immoral behavior, telling everyone about it is NOT the appropriate response. If you have FACTS and EVIDENCE, that's a different story.
Does a Word of Knowledge count?

Define "person involved". A potential spouse, to warn against a marriage that would be a disaster? Or the perpetrator himself, to prod him to change his ways?

bcarolb, I am sorry for anything that I have said that could have been hurtful. I apologize. What one hears is not always the way things are. My prayers are with you, bcarolb, and your family. I tried to let it be known that my posts were speculation or what I'd heard through the grapevine and the grapevine is not a good place to get information.

Timmy, perhaps this is where my skepticism steps in, having been raised in the church and heard lots of "Words of Knowledge" that were anything BUT. If you "think" you know something, but you don't have proof or evidence, then I don't find ANY Biblical precedent for sharing that information. Too many people use Word of Knowledge as a Big Fat Loophole for every suspicion they have being from God.
By "person involved", I mean the person allegedly committing the crime or the sin. And that person ONLY.
Let me tell you something--I had a pastor's wife come nigh to ruining my life with a "Word of Knowledge" that was so far off base it would have been comical...IF she hadn't shared it with her husband (who took it seriously), my best friends and who knows who else, before I finally found out--from someone ELSE, and had to set the RECORD STRAIGHT. (Her Word of Knowledge was really a BLATANT LIE.)
So--Word of Knowledge? You better be completely sure its from God, that's all I've got to say.

That's why I asked. I, too, have seen words of "knowledge" cause nothing but trouble. There are so many fakes that they give the real ones (if there are any) a bad name.

jane i think she was referring more to what had happend in real life as opposed to what was said on the forum

Too bad, really.
