Indeed it did.
When I first heard rumor that a Pentecostal couple were going to be on Wife Swap I thought... Oh man... I hope they don't make us look like fools. (Not the producers so much... the couple... Margaret from Trading Spouses comes to mind)
There are many depictions of Pentecostals that would cause me to cringe if asked "are they one of y'all". The well balanced and wise manner in which the Hoovers presented themselves, and us, is one that I am pleased to associate myself with.
So....are they "one of y'all"? Oh yeah... not only one of us... but one of the better representations.

Yes sir...
Very similar to Paul on Mars Hill.
It was a public pagan forum used mostly to express pagan & fleshly ideas and even had altars around since Paul used one of them as his text.
Rather than going outside of town and finding a nice Christian hill to speak off of he used the public forum of the day which even bore the name of one of their gods and he demonstrated Christ on their hill, named after their god, using the text from their own altar made to idols and he even spoke well of their devotion.
He didn't rail them. He didn't berate them. He brought to them Christ on a public forum where he would be heard by as many as possible.

DFT, I have used this comparision at some speaking engagements - not that i would wish to actually be compared to Paul in anyway - but just the nature of the venue...

Yes sir... I understand that thought (about not comparing oneself to Paul) but I found it ironic that the question was posed... "Apostolics on television?" and the best example of how an apostle handled a similar situation demands an answer of Yes.... absolutely.

Wow... how totally amazing...
I have no idea why this song is going through my head... it seems counter intuitive to the testimony about the scrapbook because the blog mentioned what God has already done...
But... for what it is worth... while reading the blog this song kept rolling through my head...
God is about to do,
God is about to do,
God is about to do His greatest work in you

PTL! For starters, my wife just called me from Branson, at the National Competition for the Jr Bible Quizzers.
She is there with Emily, my oldest (turning eight next week). Emily recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirit, evidenced by speaking in tongues, tonight!

They have some great services at those Bible Quiz meetings.
What greater work is there than having led your children to a relationship with their God & creator.
Congratulations on this very happy occasion.
We celebrate with you.
