Are you working from home?

I sometimes work night shifts and it can mess up your sleep patterns. Like right now, I should be asleep!!!

No, I work in a nursing home on the 11-7 shift. Right now it's part time, hopefully it will become full time. Then at least I'll be working and not have to worry about staying up half the night at home just so my body is used to staying up late on the nights I'm scheduled to work.

When I first started working, I was working 2 days on 3-11, then 2 days on 11-7, then I would have 2 days off. Then they cut my hours. Now there is talk of putting me back on what they call full time... and it could possibly be all 11-7 shifts, or it could go back to what it was before. Either way, I'll take the hours-- even if I have to make adjustments.

I do some work from home part time, but it's nothing to brag about-- and certainly nothing to call earning a living.

Sometimes survival requires changes....

Praying for you.

8 hour shifts aren't so bad, it's the 12 hour shifts that wear me out.

Thanks for the prayers, I can always use those.

So far, I've only done the 8 hour shifts. There have been a couple of times that coworkers have pulled a double shift because they couldn't get anyone to come in on short notice. It's not required to stay over past our scheduled shift-- but they will let you volunteer.

It's a good thing that it isn't a requirement... because I know I'm dead on my feet some nights after working 8 hours. On those mornings after I get into the car I'll find a good radio station to sing along with all the way home to keep from going to sleep. I couldn't do a double shift and live to tell about it.

A couple of the RN's request 12 hour shifts, but for all other positions, they clock out after 8 hours.

If I was working 12 hour shifts, I'd be in total burnout...fast.

Kahlua is chocolate flavored liquor or so I've read.

Ed no wonder your dog snores - look at his nose! Your daughter is so pretty and your SIL looks like a great match for her! Congratulations!

I like the word serendipity. A nice mixture of consonants and vowels.

Glad to see Bro. Scott didn't post anymore videos!

HO - WOW....those pictures are something else.

Great thread - - a lot of nothing.

Kahlua is not chocolate flavored - it's coffee flavored.

Nice pic of the young couple - but if that was my daughter I would find out why the kid is smiling.

Worst thing I have removed from a chimney? Dead raccoons... about ten days after death - they get sort of "soupy" if you pull on a leg... the bone comes out clean... very tender meat.

Well, there ya go - - good proof that I'm not a drinker! I honestly thought it was chocolate/coffee flavored. I'd heard of a drink called Mud Slides and that it was chocolate!

On the unit where I work, I prefer 12 hr shifts, which is what my unit requires anyway. I've worked 8 hours and it's just not enough time to get things done.

However, going to medical or surgical, 8 hours is quite enough! LOL!

I wore hats until my hair grew out to spike it, but while in the hospital, the dietary staff kept referring to me as 'sir'! I didn't have the heart to correct them. It's bad enough when people do that because of my voice alone!
