I am not into any type of medication at all, but if someone wants to take them, then they can go ahead and do it.
I think those are the ones that Galatians 5:20 is talking about. People on here get so bent out of shape because a scripture has the word witchcraft and it is talking about a pharmacist. Then they take the other meaning of witchcraft, which does mean divination and ignore the meaning of the one for Galatians 5:20. Maybe they should study a little more about it before being judgmental about it. The verse of scripture is very clear.
Right, because we are the ones being judgmental,
Can you explain how you know 100% for sure?
Regardless of the story on this side of the fence you guys keep coming up with the same unsupported argument. There were two fields in the Biblical days, the apothecaries were also religiously rooted and thus were witchcraft but even in the Bible days science played a role in the use of medicine.
But what do i know, universities don't make you learn the history of your field do they?

Oneness Man, are you willing to admit that today's pharmaceutical companies don't believe in all the hocus pocus junk that was associated with witch doctors? You know, incantations, dancing before the god of whatever, and all that other stuff?
Of course, it has nothing to do with that. Witchcraft comes in many forms such as rebellion (they don't do hocus pocus stuff with that) and manipulation (which is witchcraft and deals with the flesh). I guess everyone doesn't believe in all of the scriptures but just picks and chooses the ones they want to believe. This is so typical.

Dialup is difficult to deal with because only one person can be on at once. I always let wifeypoo on first, so that is why it takes me so long to catch up.
Vines
In "sorcery," the use of drugs, whether simple or potent, was generally accompanied by incantations and appeals to occult powers, with the provision of various charms, amulets, etc., professedly designed to keep the applicant or patient from the attention and power of demons, but actually to impress the applicant with the mysterious resources and powers of the sorcerer.
Those mind altering medications will do that to you.

Oneness Man, you're probably a decent fellow and all that, but...
I use Strongs often, but I do not rely solely on his concordance. I use others (i.e. Vine's Dictionary) and look for agreement among the resources. Why? Because Strong's isn't 100% correct 100% of the time.
Please know why this is important. Strongs is not scripture. Being the decent fellow that you probably are, you're probably not in the habit of intentionally offending people and maybe you would have presented your 'discovery' in a way that would not have offended me and the tens of thousands of people who make their career in the field of pharmacy.
If your understanding of pharmacology was as good as it could be, you would have never made the inference that a connection exists between 1st century medicine men and today's apothecary. Quantitative calculations for formulations and knowledge of empirical formulas were not used 21 centuries ago, but it is used today in the development of medications, including all the stuff you have in your medicine cabinet and some of the stuff in your first aid kit.
I strive for peace, and the subject of your thread was provocative. I'll accept a cyber-handshake from you, as dial-up permits.
